Some of my Fluorescence In Corals photographs

Wow! Absolutely! Amazing! Photos!

Will you please confirm that you are using just a simple yellow filter? I see it passing everything except blues (I see green, yellow, orange, and red). Does an oredinary "yellow filter" do that?

Thanks in advance!

Wow, those are crazy!

I'm guessing the flash is the important part for this? Is there a method that doesn't use a flash as I don't have a stand alone unit for my camera?

Thanks everyone for your opinions:)

Snoq,

Nice pics, I read the first page and glaced at the pics over the next three. Sorry if I missed it but your correcting ur flash with CTB gel and for the lens filter ur using a yellow filter?

Have u tried just to put CTB over ur lights as the fill and shoot with the yellow filter on? Are u using ur flash to act as fill? I just don't understand why you use the blue. Have u tried to just run your blues lights with a yellow filter? Essentially it's the same isn't it? Or even set ur white balance to 3200k and then shoot with a yellow filter? I have all the gels and filters anyone ever needs but it just happens I'm across the county at this point. Lmk your thoughts.

What I do is put a DIY yellow filter over my lens, which filters out all blue spectrum of light. Otherwise the end photo would be extremely blue and I would not be able to correct it in Lightroom. The flash is modified to give blue light by a rosco blue gel. To answer your question, you would probably be successful by shooting with actinics on and without flash, but you would have to use much longer shutter speeds to "catch" all the light available from such a dimly lit scene. Hope that helps

Set my Radion onto Deep Blue only, grabbed a Y2 yellow filter and gave this a go - pretty happy for my first go but they could probably do with being darker

i need some photography lessons... and money for a really good camera and the time to learn how to take awesome pictures like this :(

Wow!

I came into the photography forum because I was trying to figure out how to get the colors I see in my tank to show up better in my photos. Needless to say I've already ordered some blue gel and a couple yellow filters!
