Some of my Wrasse

Gorgeous collection; I was unsure if it was a pair of Hoodeds or Nahackys until you clarified. :) (I have the hardest time telling those females apart)

...and your right Id love to add a Mauritius blue spot, Macrophargynodon cyanoguttatus, one question though, are they endemic to Mauritius?
Not exactly endemic, but only found in that general part of the world:
FishBase said:
Distribution
Western Indian Ocean: northern Natal in South Africa, Mauritius and Réunion; might also occur in Madagascar and Rodriguez
I've only seen one enter the trade in the states, via PIA.

On a related note, rumor has it there's another Mauritius endemic Cirrhilabrus which may soon be available... But now I've said too much ;)

I actually have a female nahackys and a female lunate. no female hooded. but thats ok, i have to amazing males!

These the same from your last thread? That substrate was not suitable if it is.
I think you have the wrong guy, I have never mentioned my substrate any where on this site, and I did mention once about the male on another thread. Not my thread by the way. And my substrate is fine for the wrasses, after all I do have 7 wrasses in my tank, most for well over 2 years. A four inch very fine sand bed seems to be working for me.

He does have the wrong guy. He's thinking of Tangaroa from the UK and he did mention that the pic was from the LFS, he'll be using sugar fine sand.

Coming back on track, that's a fantastic collection of wrasse, do you get any squabbling?

I did have some sqaubbling between the flame, hooded, and rhomb.but havent since adding the nahackys , earls, and about 5 other leopards,a mix of choati and lapillus.

I can see how aggresion would be dispersed.

Is there a possibility of an established male Cirrhilabrus killing another newly introduced male if they were the only two males in the tank; along with other fish species?

Looking good Dex. Look the collection, thats a perfect collection that you have there. I've been really eyeing the Mitratus Flasher on LADD, and if they drop the price anymore I might have to snag it, haha.

How are the Jewel Leopards doing for you? I got a smaller one (2-3 inches) from Pacific Island over two weeks ago and he's doing awesome in quarantine. He's sleeping in the rubbermaid container of sand even after the first night. He's still off local time a bit, but I think he's getting better and staying up later.

Lol, the females are stunning but the males something else with his constant colour changing.

Do you find the lower temp has an effect on the other fish or corals?
Do all the Anampses spit and swollow, what is it they are doing when they do this and are they getting enough nutrients from doing this?
Do you have a feeding regime?

How many do you have now? Im undecided between these and the mauratius flasher I saw on DD. At the same time im thinking I should just hold off as im doing an addition to the house and going with at least a 250 in it, where all these fish will eventually end up.

Realy nice colection
You made me realize all the nice wrasses are red lol

yes Yurivd! i think most are red due to being a deeper water species.

@bk, thank you Yes I have seen that male on DD before and have even wanted to purchase it, but mine is going to grow up to be a beast i can tell.

I think fems and other anampese species are not eating the sand, but sifting it for very small crustations and then in turn spit out the sand. Not 100 precent but it makes sense. Thats all my tank is missing, is a nice anampese and a genicanthus pair.

I think they are a bit more aggressive than most leopards but still am very very very happy with this endemic species.
