Some of my zoas

Sweet tank many. You have a lot of nice pieces. I have to say that I am more curious about what camera you are using and if you are shooting in RAW or what to get such clear pics with your blue LEDs cranked up. I can't take a picture of my tank unless my blue LEDs are turned all the way down and the whites are up.

Thanks Im using a SONY DSLR with a 100mm macro and a black lens on top of the macro to kill the blue color even tho still shows a bit. Im still working in taking nicer shots since just the click of the cam can distorcion the shot and sometimes I use a tripod and other times I use a regular lens in macro setting of the camera.

Maybe I missed this part of the thread but what type of filtration do you have on this tank? Do you skim?

I have a 40gallon SUMP with a fuge (sand, live rock, cheato and mangroves)
Protein skimmer Vertex 180 insump

Every single polyp in my tank open alldaylong.
I feed cyclopezee every other day or twice a week, I feed fish very little everyday.
I think observation is crucial on the monitoring of your corals zoas etc, sometimes they dont like the place where they are or maybe too much lihgt for that type of zoa.

Hello explor3r,
Thanks for sharing your tank! Very nive colors and looks very healthy.
Could you please tell us your observations about feeding the zoas?
Does it make any difference in their growth/reproduction?
When did you begin to feed them?
Is that the only food you offer to them?
I'm very interested to know about the zoas' behavior while you feed them.
Do they close, grabing the food?
Do you target feed?
What is the time of the day you feed them?
Sorry for so many questions. Hope you have some time to answer.
Thanks and keep us posted!!

Hi Grandis my plesure to asnwer your questions.
When I feed zoas what Im doing basically is getting a piece of cyclopezee about 1 inch chunck and letting it disolve on the water keeping only my pump working so the flow can take the food to the zoas and other corals but I shut down the mp40 and the wavebox.
I do this once a week sometimes twice, what I see it happens is that some zoas and palys grab the food and they close the skirts, I dont target feed them.
I feed at night time always.
I think because of the purity of my water, good flow and good lighting my zoas and palys do so good.
A month ago I got a frag of 3 polyps of candy apple red and now I have 12 polyps that means in a month I got 9 new polys which I think is great....
Ohh forgot to mention the most important...love what you do, love your zoas and care for them:bounce2:
