Some people....

Spent a half hour or so this morning browsing at ARC, and met the nicest fellow who was awaiting his tank set up and delivery. Shared his thoughts and gave me some insight as to how I want to approach my set-up. It's great how willing some people are to share their knowledge of the hobby. It's been over 2 months since I've decided to take the plunge and I'm STILL in the "planning" stage. I keep waffling over tank size and whether I should go big (2x2x4) or keep it smaller (2x2x2)...Since I am basically a fish man at heart, and new to the mixed reef concept, I think longer is better....just thinking out loud.

I was at ARC this morning also....We were probably standing right next to each other. I grabbed my stuff and was gone around 12:30 when it started getting crowded.

I find people like to talk about their tank set-ups just as they were talking about a really nice car they love..:)

I probably spent 2 years and over $200 in books before I bought my first (used) 75 gallon aquarium. It was time and money well spent.

I love visiting ARC whenever I am in the area. I always make it a point to at least stop in even if I am just browsing. Randy is a great guy and always willing to spend time with each customer. The last time I was in there with my wife I was looking for Amphipods. Even though he did not have any for sale, he took me to the breeding room and scooped some out of his tanks and wouldn't take any money!
I will be a customer forever!

I'm no expert yet. But bigger is better/ easier to maintain. I started out with a 30 gallon FOWLR. Then within a short month I ended up with a 90 gal (used). I love my tank. But now I'm thinking about upgrading again (120 gal - 150 gal). Even though my wife hates it... I'm constantly reading and researching. Go with something thats within your budget... remember there is upkeep. Go with something that you can maintain. Then you will have a happy system.

Check out Mr. Saltwater Tank. He's got a ton on great info on his blog and youtube videos.
