Well, not for this at least. Just do the right thing if things get ugly in your tank -- And I trust you will. To the rest of you: Get off your friggin' soap box and actually do something that matters. Anenomes... Yes they're alive but they don't even have brains! Isn't there something of a higher consciousness you could spend all this energy on??? REALLY. Save a dying human. Promote global reef protection. Do something positive. Quit your inconsequential *****ing about this dudes' odd habit... Do something real and impactful. Quit spending what limited resources you can muster on trying to impress the rest of us with your ecological righteousness and do something that might actually matter. Make me believe you, not pity you. Fix something and stop being a hater. Nobody wants to join your cult.

Your not doing very well peddleing. You are also puting your animals in danger and handing out some bad information. Yes, I will correct it, along with everyone else that has posted here from the Anemone forum. We care too much about these creatures to sit back and watch you advise someone to treat them in such a way.

You have not done "better than most by keeping these animals alive" Your pictures show that. If you would have searched RC like I had asked you would quickly see how many others are a whole lot better than you at keeping anemones.

Get on with your daily routine. We can all judge for ourselves and I hope that MOST people can think for themselves and decide what is right and wrong.

50 years ago, if you asked people if you could keep an ocean in a glass box. They would think you are nuts, but yet here we are.

You can keep and over stocked tank as long as it has proper filtration and daily maintenance.

The only thing i would suggest is getting MH lighting for the tank. you can keep anem;s with Power compacts, they just do not keep the same color. It does not mean they are not HEALTHY. I kept a GBTA under 260watts of PC's. People said it would last 4 months tops. Before I sold it, I had it for 9 months and it was doing just fine.

Back to back identical 260W fixtures. covers my whole tank top. I would love to get halide lights, and am looking at one or two of those new swingarm ones. K2 or something.

You do realize that you sound like a complete JERK and if you had approached Aaron, who we know is a nice guy, in an amicable way which was designed to help him and not ATTACK him this would have gone down differently. HOWEVER, you came off like a Jerk who believes he is an authoratative figure and acts like a know it all JACKA$$ and now no matter what you say it is tainted by the fact that you are being offensive...For all intensive purposes you are stalking someone and should be booted out of here. Learn a little respect and social skills and go be rude in someone else's forum. If you have a point, make it to HELP OTHERS...Not DEMEAN them.... Mr Mike, I think you misunderstodd the direction of my comments completely. They were not directed toward air, they were directed to DarkDevil coming and saying because we eat meat we hate animals, because we have pets we have no respect for our animals, because something has been tested and proven inneffective or dangerous, it does not mean you should listen to people telling you not to use it. This is where the sarcastic comment about copper came about. Please read the people defending him and the reread all of my comments separately. I only used sarcasm after being personally and wrongfully attacked and accused of hippocracy by the use of bad comparisons, inuendo, and ludicrous remarks on my care of my pets and my eating habits. The use of sarcasm was in direct response to such comments. Yes, if I came off a little harsh, this needed to be done when I and other intelligent people are getting verbally assulted. I mean no ill-will to you, but to bring up the fact that I was former president of a reef club, this should give you even more of an idea of how truely committed to this passion that I am. I would not come on this page if it were not important. I don't like wasting my time bickering, so I will just leave it at this...read the comment that I quoted and my response to this comment. Read the other thread that I linked. Please reread my posts carefully and tell me one time where I initiated rudeness that was not a direct response to someone elses inappropriate comments. I have been trying to get these threads back onto the subject of how to help, I have tried to alleviate some tensions between members, I have attempted to give advice without attacking. But then people like you come on and question my motives, question my knowledge, or question my dignity and this is somewhat offensive. I will not post on this thread again, but you really need to look back, see who you are defending, and see who you are attacking. Again, I just want to apologize for any discomfort the thread had caused earlier. cshweitzer, I do hope to hear from you some more. Each of the people from the anemone forum who posted are very respected indivbiduals there and their insight is surely desired. juaninsac, I read the article and thanks. Still leaves me about where I was as far as solid answers, but at least it reinforces my hope that there are possibilities.

If you could read the whole content you would understand. I never called anyone any names like you have done. If you could read you would see my post where I stated I believed he was trying to help. I also offered several suggestions, the same as every one else is doing. He refused to listen or read. Unfortunately, he is still determined to push the limit that has already been pushed. Now your calling be a JACKA$$, and accusing me of being of having a crusade, thats pretty interesting because I don't know these people, these people have a mind of their own, and a heart. We are all here for the same reason. I'm sorry but lack of knowledge caused this, not me. Any more posts like that from you and you will be reported.

redvipe. Your input is desired and I have done the looking up online as well as loads of additional reading. karensroseanem has actually been on my favorites list for a while. I recognize you are knowlegable and passionate about anems. I think we just got off on the wrong foot and hope that we can move forward from here. My friends were only trying to defend me. Thats why I love em. But this thread was intended to share my experiences with my local reefers who I meet often. Lets keep our further discourse on the anem forum where it is most useful.

In actuality, this is what caused this! Had you commented in a way such as "I am sure you had the best intentions but in my opinion you may be hurting your animals," do you think the responses may have been different. You got personal, rude, and condescending which is what was the cause of the vibe this post took. Did you really think an attack was the way to help? It certainly did not come off that way. I am sorry that I called you a jerk and a moron, I have no proof whatsoever that you are a jerk. CHEERS!!

Hey pbetito. In case your wondering, the pink LTA at the bottom of the pic of my LTA's is the one I got from you. Browned him up under my 250W's for two weeks and then put him right into the tank. Feeding like crazy. Kinda has a bluish color now. wanted to say thanks. Almost wish I had took the purple guy too.

Negativity and hostility begets just that, though the motive may be honorable and just, the delivery was horrible. Encourage someone to "plz read this or that.." but dont encourage them to go and get scoffed at. Even amidst the ridicule he still was humble and admirable enough to aknowledge your experience guys, namely you vedpipe.

We all care for these creatures, some not as whole heartedly or as assertively and consceintiously as others.But, you can't jam sense down ones throat. We all try and progress our tanks to the best of our abilities with the sense we have at hand, we all didnt begin this class at the same time so be patient with the learning curve, please.

What struck me as impressive was all of the very intelligent responses from everyone, especially in light of how personal the thread was heading, hopefully we can keep it in the right direction

juaninsac. I copied your link to the article you provided and included it in my responses across all the threads this has spread across. Hope you dont mind. I didnt refer you as the source, just said a friend showed me this. I think it is a great article and actually reflects alot of the frustration I feel about keeping anems. Just about nothing to go on but a wing and a prayer. Amazing that animals this interesting are so poorly understood. Hope I make it to the microscopic percentage of people lucky enough to keep anems alive to 5 years or more. But without asking some critical questions about why we do what we do for our anems, we might never realize the mistakes we are making.

didnt answer their questions in a relative short period of time. You three (Acschweitzer, GSM, and Redvipe) need to realize that not all of us sit in front of a computer all day reading forums and trashing threads that they werent necessarily invited to. Instead of typing trash and wasting time..why dont you practice what you preach and go take care of your fish. You three are pathetic losers in my book. The bottom line is.....if you are such experts, then you shouldnt have had to ask him questions to begin with. Leave this forum cuz your not welcome. Be careful with losing your temper cuz im sure your fish are watching.

As MrMike had mentioned, you have no clue as to how he is managing his tank and therefore, should limit your ill comments and forgo getting ****ed off cuz he isnt replying to your stupid @ss posts. Grow UP!

OK, this thread has gotten out of control. Lets take the heat off of a local and place it somewhere it belongs. OMG, i have 2 gonioporas in my tank who wants to berate and belittle me.....

If you really want to, remember that i am doing it in hopes of finding a way to make them a normal part of our collections.

So friggin what if he has 200 anemones in a 1 gallon tank (not serious) his anems look healthy and he really cares about the creatures under his care, otherwise he wouldn't be posting. If you're really looking for a scape goat, go target your LFS and thier flunky hourly workers who are only doing the job to make some money. Or the whacked out liberals who want to drill for oil in your reef tank.

And who's to say he's hurting his animals.... last time i checked anemone's couldn't speak. I judge when mine is unhappy by the way it looks. Unless you have a much better way of telling when an ocean organism is unhappy.... can you speak anemonease? If so i'd like to learn it. I'm sure my mertan's carpet has a few stories for me.
