Ron,

You have done a great job with that tank. Congrats on getting Barry to loosen the purse strings a little, I am sure the payback as with the additional frag tanks and 2nd display up front will be big.

I think those displays say a lot. That was one reason I was always so confident in everything I heard from over in Ironton. Keeping a big established / thriving tank in a store like that says more than just I sell, but I know what I am doing.

hey was just wondering why the zip ties are around that piece of rock u have there in the first few pics??

Zip ties are likely there to hold a couple peices of rock together or to hold rock to PVC (that is what I use them for).

Yep that's right. It is actually about 5 pieces of tonga branch banded together to form an arch. The zips are still there but now they are pretty much covered by coraline. I had a lot of people who thought it looked bad but I knew what it would look like in a few months and it was the only option to get that look I wanted in that area.
The next tank is going to be a real challenge, I'm not sure how it will look just yet I only know it has to look better than the current tank above.

Do you have a calc reactor on that tank??? If not i bet you do alot of doseing to keep all those corals looking good

Actually I don't have a reactor at all on the system.
I dose a special home brewed 2 part that someone made for me.
The tank looks overcrowded but it is pretty close to perfect balance at this point. However as the corals grow the balance will shift and I will need a reactor, it is inevitable IMO.

Hey Ron, I do not have a calc reactor on my 120 either, I use Reef Complete 3 times a week. My calcium reads 400mg. I'm thinking I should go down to using the Reef Complete to only twice a week because the calcium seems on the high end. What do you think? I have that beautiful clam I got from you, and it is doing great.

Your Ca sounds fine but keep an eye on your Alkalinity, thats where most people mess up. Shoot for about 3.5 to 4 mq/L at a Ca level of about 400 to 420 ppm. You should have good results with those levels. I will be running a reactor on that tank eventually. I have no choice but to run one at home and I recommend them as they tend to be quite nice and worry free.

<b>Wow heres an update for you on the 125 display.</b>

I cleaned the pump on the wavebox today and made sure the blue pad was pushed back away from the intake (it's not a pre-filter at all), also faced the intake screen side up, not down. I also plugged the two small holes on the back of the pump and placed it back in the tank. The waves have NEVER been this high before! I thought the WAVEBOX was awesome before but now it's incredible. Even with the additional flow in the tank the waves are cresting over 1 inch high on each end now! If any of you serious reefkeepers around here are thinking about adding additional flow to your tank seriously consider a Wave Box, yes they are expensive but no you will not find anything that will do what they do. I will post a movie of this tomorrow for you guys, you wont believe it otherwise.

Thanks Ron! Now I'm gonna have to get a longer thank so I can do the whole wave thing! I really am gonna invest in a longer tank to put in the wall. We are going to rebuild and I am gonna have a tank in the wall with a fish room behind it, hopefully this spring.

LOL I have the same tank as you here at home and I put a Wazvebox in it a few weeks back plus it has a TUNZE 6100 in it.

OH, I was told that it was too short for a wave box. Now I want one! I am using a SWID and I really like it. I will have to talk to you when I come in to the shop about getting a wave box. Or, if anyone is going to talk about items for current at the swap I will ask then.

MH on that tank? The coral variety is amazing. very "mixed".

Do soft corals need Ca? If I remember correctly, it is only SPS, and LPS, then some invertebrates, such as snails, and hermits, correct?
