Do angels need sponge in their diet and what types of commercially sold sponges for food are acceptable? Do any of the dwarf angels absolutely need sponge long term?

They don't necessarily need them. Its their natural diet but ive had lots of angels survive years and years without sponges to eat. And thats mostly for big angels. Dwarf angels are definitely fine without sponges.

Not necessary. Rock Beauties, Moorish Idols, Queen Angels, etc will all live for many years without feeding them any sponge at all. Just offer them a solid varied diet.

There are some frozen foods that theoretically contain sponge but generally angel fish do fine with normal feeding. Moorish Idols, on the other hand may be a different story. There is a Moorish Idol thread which, if relevant to your situation, could be a useful read.

I say if they eat in nature they must need it. So why not give to them, Hikari has Mega-Marine Angle that has sponge in it plus other things all my butterflies love it.
