Some sort of amphipod?

Went fishing on a private dock and saw this guy munching on a shrimp on a bench...I'm guessing it's some sort of amphipod?

Isopod. Some species get huge. There was a story from some aquarium in Asia, I think, about one going on a hunger strike for 5 years before it died. It was a biggin.

I've got to say I have been fishing Tampa Bay for decades and never once saw anything like that! Very cool!

@IrishTang yea same here but in the Sarasota/Bradenton area and had never seen anything like it so I snapped a few pics...looks like a cross between a roach,cricket,centipede and shrimp lol

Now that I think about I guess they are the same guys that run around the pilings, just never seen one that big.

Those things aren't cool. They'll eat your fish if you have them in your tank. Cirolanid Isopods are no joke. Gross!

My fishing buddies all said bring it home and put it in my tank.. No way in hell I'm going to stick something in my tank that I don't know what it is lol

Oh wow they eat shrimp too? Hm mine only eat my zoas they're on a strict diet
