Some strange grey cyano....

So my rock have no algae, my sand is clean.... But my back wall and my magnetic frag rack get quite a bit. Probably because the Ampipods cant get there to chow on it... I know this because I pop a frag plug full of HA into the rock work and about 2 hours after the lights go out is is squeaky clean and the Ampipods are on it like scrubbing bubbles... But I digress....

I noticed what looks like cyano on a few frag plugs except it is grey... The rack gets low flow but for the most part my tank is low nutrients with high random flow... This stuff is spreading from one to the next. I removed the rack and all the frags to clean it all off outside of the tank... I don't want that stuff spreading around the DT so I am on it like a hawk...

After I cleaned. Few plugs I noticed all the flesh was eaten off my acro frags wherever this junk was.... Any idea on what this junk is?

Lack of knowing I am treating it like any other nuisance algae. Manual cleaning, keeping up on the water changes and such...

Hard to say with no pic. Bryopsis has a gray cast to it. If this is what you have, take action immediately. This stuff makes GHA & cyano look like kids stuff. I'd replace the original frag plugs ASAP. The rough texture of the ceramic is ideal for algae holdfasts & parasite eggs.

Your tissue recession may be due to other factors. GL.

As I said, I cleaned it. It is not bypropsys. It looks exactly like cyano but grey...
