Some tank pics

Since it must be the season for tank pics, I thought I'd share a few too. My tank is approx 300 gals and is the same dimensions as John's acro tank at YR. Lighting is 4x250w DE HQI and 4x54w T5 actinics. Water motion is done using two waveboxes and two 6100 Tunze streams, all run through the 7095 controller. I have an auto-topoff system set up using kalk in RODI water and also a calcium reactor. It is still definitely a work in progress... have to still finish eradicating the Aiptasia!
Anyway, just wanted to share a few pics. And, thanks again to all of you who have helped answer my many questions along the way!

Very nice Jeff. Have you ever thought of a Klein's butterfly or copperband.

Also, what bulbs are you running in your maristar? Thanks for the update.

That would be a sea apple. Supposedly one of the "no-no's", but it's been doing well for about six months now and grows additional tentacles every so often.

Wow! Thanks for sharing. In the 3rd pic, what is that just left of the larger squammie?

I have tried, and lost, two copperbands, both to lymphocystis. Haven't tried a Klein's butterfly yet and will be looking for one after the first of the year. I checked YR and Aqualife for the Klein's but both were out of them.

As for bulbs, I have three of the Phoenix 14K's and one Ushio 12K (the lighter one over the clams). I really like the combination of the Phoenix 14K with T5 actinics, really makes the greens and blues come out and the Phoenix is supposed to have really good PAR.

A baker's dozen :)
Six maxima's, 3 derasa's, 2 squammies, and 2 large gigas. I still want to get a few more maxima's though, you can't have too many clams :D

What is the total clam count?

Very nice, and I like that you left plenty of open area for the fish to swim. It looks like a coral bommie on a sand pacth in a reef.

I used to have around 100 aptasia but I squirted kalk on them a couple of times and got 4 peppermint shrimp, and when I looked for the aptasia the other day I found maybe a dozen left.

Looks nice and clean, love the aquascaping.

Post the id for the SPS on the SPS Identification forum. I have the Vernon books and may give it a try, but after a while.....they all look the same.

thanks for the compliments, guys! I tried to keep the aquascaping pretty open and have some patches of just sand bottom. The fish seem to like having plenty of space to swim around.

As for the aiptasia, I tried kalk paste for awhile with some success but have had better luck using a sodium hydroxide solution. I did add some peppermint shrimp but my dwarf lion ate them in like two days... oops!

I may post a pic of that one acro colony in the SPS id forum to see what it might be.

Have a good christmas everyone!

Cool link, I'll have to read through it. I did post that one colony on the SPS ID forum and someone suggested it was Acropora subglabra. I really need to get myself that set of "corals of the world" books.
Thanks again, Doug!

that really sucks.
I'm sorry for that guys loss.
I used to have a cucumber.
It died, and nothing else got affected.

That still really sucks though.
Every system is different though

I do watch that cuke closely and actually have been debating taking it out. That really sucks for the guy who started that thread, that certainly would not be a fun way to spend your christmas. Might actually take him out soon just to be safe. Thanks for linking that thread, Ed, for everyone to read.
