Some tank Pictures

Just snapped a few pictures of the tank this morning. I'm still practicing trying to get the color as close to real life as possible using our point and shoot. 14K MH makes my camera go crazy :(

Only adjustments in photoshop are Crop and Cooling Filter (80) @ %25 Density to try and recoup the blue/white. I set my white balance on the camera to a piece of printer paper and that seems to work well but the colors are always a tad yellow. Anyone have any other tips to help the pictures, camera is a Canon SD360.

looks like you have added alot since i saw it,those frogspawns look really happy.

Yeah, it has changed alot since you were over. Biggest change was adding 15lbs of LR, that makes it look alot different. Might add some stuff this weekend, payday is friday :D I have been wanting some rics for a while.

Looking really good for a little guy lol

 your going to give him a complex! Good news is I might have finally convinced the GF to let me build a 75gal

did you have the halide when i saw it?you will be able to keep anything you want now.a little derasa clam would look great against the black sand.

Yeah, but it was the stock sunpod bulb. Running a 14k Phoenix from John now, boy what a difference that made. Even partially bleached my big lavender mushroom :(

I have been reading up on clams lately, I want to add one sooner or later.

Very nice setup ... love the black sand

Check Rockin Reef .. they always have nice looking clams ...

Thanks, I like the black sand too... Though my next tank will have white, gotta have one of each :P

As for a clam, I have been holding off since alot of stuff I read says your tank must be 9 months +++ old I can understand a mature stable tank, but 9 months seems kind of extreme unless there is something major that happens after a couple of months?! My tank is 2 1/2 months old now is it still to early to add a clam, or is there no truth to these claims?

If only they had black sand in the fine oolite grade..

Haha yeah that would be nice! My next tank will have white in that grade though =D

Managed to grab one of my Randalls tonight! Most I can see of him during the day is a mouth and eyes randomly throughout all of the rock, he has tunnels so he can come out anywhere in the tank. At night he is master of the domain and ventures out much more, I still need to find him a Randalls pistol to pair with. (anyone know where I can find one local?)

ohhhh ok,i have a pistol but i dont think he has red stripes.i do know he is striped but dont recall red as a color.

I never see my pistol shrimp. And definately wait at least 5-6 months before getting a clam in, there is something that happens but I forget what and haven't had any luck finding the link.

Maybe a tiger or bullseye pistol. And chris I know you have lots of clams, what's the verdict on tank age before adding one? I am interested what the change is in an aged tank that makes it suitable for them.

All of this talk about pistol shrimps makes me want one again! I had given up after calling every LFS and no one had any :( LMK if you guys come across any, I created a WTB thread too maybe that will get someone's attention!

6 months minimum on the clams for sure, you want some maturity before adding them.

also you said none of the stores had the pistol, but did you ask if they could get you one?

What happens around that tank age that qualifies as maturity making it suitable for adding things like clams etc...? Does it just take that long before the 'biological systems' establish, and is there somewhere I can read up on these matters?

Yeah, one store is 'keeping an eye out' and the others answer is our shipment comes in tuesday call back then... I will have to ask John again but I think it was him I was talking to about it and he doesn't keep pistols.
