Something covering zoas

I've been losing some of my zoas to what looks like some kind of algae. I actually thought it was cyano at first, but it's not. It has a purplish color to it, but it doesn't easily vacuum off like cyano would. I can actually peel it off carefully with tweezers or brush it off with a toothbrush. It will cover them, causing them not to open and eventually they melt. I'm trying to get a decent picture to post on here, but so far no luck. I don't have problems with cyano and I havn't been able to find anything else that could be the cause. Any ideas?

+1 ^; I did read a post on another forum where someone was having trouble with an algae and did a dip with the cyano treatment outside their tank. Have no idea on the math or amounts that you would use, but they reported that it was successful.
