Something I have Always Had Issues With

Hello everyone!

I am setting up a new tank in my office. This will be a small 24x12x14 rimless aquarium, that I will be setting up as a high flow barebottom SPS tank. :)

I need advice on lighting!

I am torn between the following lighting fixtures:

ATI Powermodule 4x24w HO T5 Fixture

and the

Giesemann Nova II 150w MH Pendant

I have always had a hard time getting the correct combination of T5 tubes, my tanks either look too white or purple or just off.

So, what do you SPS guys recommend?

Thanks for any help.

If you go with the T5 it only has 4 bulbs. That really limits what you can do. On my old tank I ran a 4 bulb fixture and always used 2 ATI Blue+ and 2 ATI Aquablue Specials. It looked ok.

I have never ran halides so I can't really be of much use there although I know people who run the phoenix 14k's without any supplementation and find that they like the look and performance. I think they are running 250 watt bulbs though.

Personal opinion of course, but I prefer MH. I had a 4 bulb T5, and IMO/ IME it limits you in terms of tweaking the color.

I have a 6 bulb T5 right now, and it's better, but I still prefer the look of MH. Next tank I'm going back.

That said, I think you can have success with either.
