I got a crosshatch trigger male and female several weeks ago and luckily I got them to bond. They came in with tons of flukes, caught brook in qt and who know whatever else. In any case they have been through the following treatments and are now doing great, eating well and full of personality. The past 2 weeks they have been in clean water in a private 125g QT that has clean water, at hyposalinity 1.010+-1., 73F, dim lighting.
treatments
------------
3 freshwater dips
2 applications of pratzi
1 week metro
2 weeks CP(they came down with brook so moved directly to formalin dips before finishing a 4 week course)
3 rounds of formalin dips 1ml/gal for 1 hour and placed into fresh water with .1ml/gal, 2 days apart
The male came in with a couple tiny pinholes that I figured was made by large flukes or some kind of worm exiting during freshwater dips at the LFS. The holes were a little pink. After all the treatments the holes on the fishes right side now look like a grey patch over the area of one scale each, but hole on the left side is still pink. It looks like a little mucus comes out of the still-pink hole.
So the two part question is
1) what could cause this?
2) is the grey patch scale an area that is healing or has it turned into some kind of ulcer?
Thanks,
-Matt
