Well, after my fire I cut my system back to the bare essentials and I have yet to do my planned improvements. All I have plugged in (aside from the light) is one MJ 1200, the skimmer and the return pump. My water temp is down a lot. It would appear that much more of the heat than I thought was coming from the powerheads. My corals have colored up quite a bit-- especially the orange cap-- and the growth rates are accelerated noticeably.
Coincidence? Perhaps. I have a tough time swallowing that one. I am thoroughly puzzled. Anyone care to help me noodle this one out? And no, I am not going to post "water parameters". I do not own a test kit and I have no intention of purchasing one... I don't believe in that stuff. I know what many of you are going to say about that and yes, you have some valid points. However, I think the reasoning power of the brain is enough to sort this out without the input of a bunch of numbers of PPM of molecule X etc. I can guarantee that nitrates and phosphates are zero. Always are. Given the growth rates I can pretty much guarantee that the calcium and alkalinity are okeydokey as well (that's why I don't test that stuff).
