uriel, am I seeing things or do you actually have seven mantis tanks? gee im jealous much. I mean really, are you setting up a mantis lab to compete with Dr. Roy?![]()
BTW I absolutely love the names of your P. ciliata. Demonic mythology right? very fitting lol.
I currently have 8 mantis tanks, with 3 more tiny ones living in critter keepers in another tank, awaiting final living quarters.
The current and past roster of mantis is as follows...
Hydra, 4-5" O scyllarus (Named after the H.P. Lovecraft reference, though classical mythology serves as well).
Mephistopheles, 2.75 or so P cilata (Obvious name from somewhere 'South' of here...ahem).
Baron Munchausen3" or so G viridis (Named after one of my fave movies, both versions...)
Glaurung 3" or so G platysoma (named after a Dragon in Tolkien's the Silmarillion).
Freya 3.5" G. chiraga, named after the Norse Goddess.
Athena 3" G. chiraga, named after the Greek goddess.
Tiamat, 3" P. cilata, named after the Babylonian/Sumerian Goddess.
Sarris (Formerly Sammy before I adopted him...), a 2.5-3" G smithii (Named after the badguy in Galaxy Quest).
R.I.P. Roster
Baba Yaga 4' G. ternatensis, named after the Russian witch.
Typhon. 2" G. glabrous, named after the greek monster.
Dagon, 5.5-6" O. scyllarus. named after the H. p. Lovecraft monster, or the Babylonian Sea Devil/God, as you like.
Lo Pan, 2" N. wennerae, named after the badguy in Big Trouble in Little China.
I have three that I haven
t named yet, but i just watched Godzilla:Final Wars, and I was thinking of some of the Kaiju as possible names. Front runners are
Gigan, Rodan, and of course...Godzilla.

PS: I would never even dream of the madness that is keeping 300+ mantis...I am nearly at whit's end with 11, plus lions, other fish, 2 cats, juggling 1-3 girls, a fledgling band...Ach!!!!!!!
