I was going to wait for a while before I added the AAs. I was going to order them to have them on had. In the past, I've used Zeos AAs and others, but never the WM, I'm interested in that brand as I've heard some good things.

I'll grab some lugols, thanks.

Nice tank sunnyx
you in Michigan I'll be up there for labor day weekend grow up in sterling heights. Any good fish store. Around metro detroit. Again nice set up.

Sunny, how do you keep your alk low? Mine always goes up to 10, and I'm using two part. I always been struggling to keep it down to 7. (I'm dosing via litermeter - both at the same pace)

tank always finds itself to 9-10 dkh.

9dkh is fine.......I run mine between 9.0 and 9.5. In fact everyone always tell me that it's perfect for keeping elevated calcium levels around the 440-450 range.

I started using MB7 on my new 180g about a week ago. The directions say for aquarium start-up, use 1 capful per 25g daily. So for 180g, I've been adding 7 capfuls every day. Is that too much?

9 DKH is fine but you dont want it creeping up to 10 0r 11+. To lower my alk I sometimes dose slightly more CA soultion.

At 9DKH you should be fine.

That sounds about right, but only use that dose for two weeks. After two weeks switch over to the low dosage on the bottle and + or - the dosage from there based on your observations and tests.

Tropicorium, Aquarium Shine, Pet connection, Preuss Pets, Choice Aquariums, and Kees Pets are all good shops.

Thanks Sunny.

One other thing. The new tank has been running for two and a half weeks. Last week I started dosing Zeo Amino Acid, Sponge Power, and Coral Vitalizer. Is it too soon for that? I was going to wait till the tank was runnig for a month to start vodka.

What do you think?

I would hold off on the nutritional additives such as AA's for at 2-4 weeks AFTER the start up of vodka. AA's are very powerful and you want to be sure that your system is running at its full waste processing capacity before adding any nutrients.

Well, after fragging up some corals yesterday for sale and comparing them to the SAME corals in the frag tank I am thoroughly convinced that the T5 have had the greatest impact on my coloration.

The difference in color was jaw dropping. I placed the same corals side my side and was shocked at how much brighter and more colorful the corals under T5 were.

I was fragging up the corals quickly so I didn't get any shots but I will the next time I frag some up to show the difference. I dont know how big a difference the camera will show but in person they look like they came from different systems.

I had people over yesterday and they were in love with the colors in the frag tank, but when they seen the same corals in the display tank they were shocked.

One guy told me I have more colors then a box of Crayola Crayons!

Needless to say we will have a few more guys joining us with the current dosing methods that we are doing here. ;)

The Sohal Tang is being sold off today. I hate to see him go but the tank is simply too small for him and I wont be getting a larger tank until spring/summer 2010.

I agree with this statement. I went from t5's to MH with 4 T5's and the colors were not as nice as with the T5's only. You could see the difference immediately from taking it out of the t5 tank and putting it into the MH tank. What I don't know is if the T5's are "tricking" your eyes because of the bulb combo and spectrum you can pick. I know if i were to change the t5's bulb combo in the t5 only tank the corals would look more dull immediately too. Right now I'm still in the wait and see mode. Will the corals color up better eventually? We'll have to wait and see.

Where will you be selling the frag? Id love to have a couple from the Great Sunny's tank.

I sell them locally and am usually sold out of corals within 20 minutes of posting. I sold this weekends batch to those who were on the waiting list. I still have quite a few people on the waiting list but my corals are starting to grow faster.

I dont ship corals but may in the future if need be. ;) If I do sell corals nationally if will likely come from Todd over at www.Cherrycorals.com . He is only a couple miles from me and would do a much better job shipping and packing the corals. Perhaps he can setup a small section on his site for corals from my system.

So far, I cant keep up with the local demand. The good news is, with the amount of corals I am now selling I will have no problem setting up the next larger tank. :D

I took the frags out of the MH tank and placed them in the T5 tank and Vice/versa. Under both lighting the T5 corals blew away the ones grown in MH.

I expected to T5 to look slightly better but not to the level I seen. Two guys that came over yesterday who seen both frag groups are looking into T5's now.

One thing to keep in mind is the corals in the MH tank have no supplemental lighting so you should be fine with the T5/MH combo.

Amen to this brother. I know I would support this by buying a few of your frags from him. Todd is a great person to deal with.
