hi sunnyx from hawaii! just figured i give you an update that i finally made it here in hawaii. Maui was our first stop. i took the family out to dive the Molokini volcano. here's an excerpt of the area "Molokini is a partially sunken volcanic crater just 2.5 miles off the coast of Maui, Hawaii. Located between the islands of Maui and Kahoolawe, Molokini is now a beautiful underwater sanctuary for marine life. Molokini is truly one of Maui's most breathtaking snorkel and dive locations. Part of Maui County, Molokini is a popular destination for scuba diving and snorkeling with many tourist boats coming each day from the south coast of Maui"
below are some pic but they are not my own because i don't have a way to download pics away from home. enjoy!

 Still taking it easy with a small tank and spending lots of time with my growing daughters .

My next setup will be clean , simple and peaceful. No crowds lots of open room for about a half a dozen or so frags to grow into proper colonies. However real planning for it is a few years off ...Maybe ;)

Well, take your time. Family always comes first. :)

Hopefully it will be months instead of years for your next setup. :D

Let me know if you need a recommendtion where to stay cause we were quite happy with price and where we stayed. A condo near beach shopping, food, and surfing! Great price like $165/ night 2 bedroom 2 bath condo with full kitchen and 3 flat screen tv. I didn't even look at the tv but to some that's important! And that's tax included!

will send you a pm when I can get to a computer. Typing on a pda is a pain! You will want to fly to the cheapest hawaiian island and use hawaiian air to go to different island cause it's like $80 round trip to any island!

Hi Sunny,

Do you feed your lps? If yes how frequent and what do you feed?

Thanks

Hello,

I occasionally will feed my acan small Spectrum brand pellets. The corals love them and the pellets are easy to handle.

Hello, I use 110ML of CA and 110ML of ALK daily. It works out to about 1 gallon or 3.8 liters of each solution per month.

i'm kind of wondering how you get away with such small amounts? My tank is a bit smaller (although not a ton) and has a substantially smaller SPS load then yours and i use about 85 ml of each alk and CA part daily... i figured in a mature grown out tank my usage would be a lot higher? What do you keep your CA/Alk at? I keep mine relatively low, with a CA of about 420, and an Alk of about 8 dKH...

also, i've never dosed lugols before.. what exactly are the benefits in an SPS tank? Everything i have read tends to point iodine dosing toward leather corals...

Thanks Sunny
It's a custom 48x36x24 from Aquarium Obsessed. Lighting is a Ati 10 bulb powermodule. Flow is 3 X Vortechs, 2 X Korilia Magnum 8's, and a Tunze nanostream. I dose randy's 2 part through an aquacontroller 3.
I dose Vodka, Mb7, and Probido reefbooster.

Do you notice any difference dosing Lugol's one drop 6 times a week as opposed to dosing six drops once a week (as instructed on the bottle)?

Hello Sunny, I have been following this thread for a couple of weeks now. In the process I have been reading as much as I can about carbon dosing (Vodka) It is a lot of info to sort through. I currently am Running GFO and it is just about time for me to Change the Reactors Media. I am seriously considering starting Vodka dosing. I have some spots in my tank with just a bit of Algae. Would you suggest That I let my tank run a couple days(several??) W/O GFO before starting with Vodka?
My nitrates are running around 5 PPM (Salifert)
My PO4 Runs @ ) PPM (salifert)
I also run a Remote DSB. That I just Cleaned out about a month ago. Thanks for any info.

I used to do it once a week but recently switched over to one drop a day. So far, I have not noticed any difference in the tank.

I just started doing the daily drops a few weeks ago so its still too soon to tell what if any difference the change up of dosages has made yet.
