Off topic but is anyone going to see "District 9" today? As soon as the wife gets home we are off to watch it! :D

Hi Sonny,

I had started another thread on this form "Do I have red bugs?" and everyone that responded say that they followed Melev's treatment. Which was dose for 12 hrs then wait 7 days and do another 12 hrs dose and then again in another 7 days. Obviously, using carbon in between each dose. That way you ensure you get rid of all of them. It's not horrible, but I do see them on all of my smooth Acros and they are preventing PE.

Matt

Katie and I would really like to but honestly once we get home from work we are too lazy to leave the house usually, or a couple of wine glasses too deep :)

Watched it last night. It was surprisingly good! I guess it really depends on your taste in movies but I would say its one of the better movies I've watched this year. I'd say it is definitely a movie that is under hyped..

Sonny -

I saw in a picture earlier in this thread with a bottle of Coral Vitalizer in it. Are you dosing that as well? Any other Zeo products?

Hey Sonny,

Any reason why you are only dosing 12 drops of AA per week? Brightwell Coral Amino suggests 1ml (~20 drops) per 50g daily. That means you should be dosing 60 drops per week, right?

Okay my tank is 4 years old and I've never added any bacteria...as a matter of fact I am strongly against it and think it's a scam.

That being said....my MB7 came in today and as the postman was walking away I put about 10 drops in my wet dry filter and another 5 drops in my denitrator.

It's starting to look a little clearer... so what the heck I added another 15 drops. I have a variety of cyano at the moment green, red, and black. Hopefully this will finish it off..it's not real bad but a nuisance.

It must be doing something because I found myself searching the house for some wet musty laundry and the smell ended up coming from the tank. I hope this subsides being the weekend and all.

Is this smell normal?

Hello,

add 5 ml (1 capful) per 25 US-gallons for the first two weeks.(Three in your case) After that add add 1 drop per 50 US-gallons daily(Two drops in your case).

Thanks Sonny.

Do you add the MB7 to your main tank or your return section of your sump?

I really dont need as much AA as the bottle suggests. Plus, I belive that his dosing recommendation is way off. I dosed only half of the recommended dosage when I started it up and ended up with brown all over my sand and a darkening of my corals.

AA's are very powerful so I suggest that you only use them once your system has reached an ULN level, and the corals have lightened up.

I would caution against overdosing MB7 in your system, especially for its age. Take it slowly and be sure to provide proper skimming and aeration for the system.

Concerning the smell, I have never smelled anything out of the ordinary when dosing MB7. Perhaps it is coming from your skimmer? What does it smell like?

Hello,

I add it directly into my main display in front of a powerhead.

sunny, do you notice that if you add too much mb7 that you tend to get diatoms on the glass quickly? i've been dosing vodka 1ml and 1/2 cap of mb7 and find that i have to wipe the glass every day. i then backed off both and it made a huge difference. just wondering if you noticed the same? my corals are lightning up too so i think the nutrients are low in the tank. i will probably start to feed more often. what you think?

hey funny you said that! i had a slight trace of smell out of the tank too. i thought it was because i didn't have enough carbon so i added alot more. it's almost the smell of dying algae out of water. not sure if the mb7 is responsible. i backed off the dosing and the smell is almost gone.

Yeah, if I OD on the MB7 I do get an outbreak of brown stuff very similar to diatoms. I cant verify if it is diatoms, but it does grow rapidly if I OD.

If I scale back my dosage of MB7 for a couple days it goes away. If your corals are getting lighter in color then you may want to up the feeding of the fish slowly. Keep an eye on your nutrient levels good luck.

GREAT INFO  i happen to just try lowering the dosage and noticed instantly a big difference. i think i'm on the right path to success. funnily enough some of my corals had turned dark brown in the move and others were not affected so when dosing the ones that weren't affected turned light in color but the brown ones are still quite brown so i'm debating to feed or not to feed. That's the question. obviously some corals are more sensitive to change. i'm not quite sure if i feed the tank the brown corals will stay brown or eventually color up. whatcha think?

Might be hard to tell from this pic, but does it look like the stuff in my pic below? I'm on day 22 of a brand new tank cycle and have been dosing MB7 since the first day. I believe I am on my 6th day of very light vodka dosing. Other than your typical diatoms, a very mild case of diatoms actually, I'm not experiencing any other algae issues (yet) *knocks on wood*.
