I am about ready to fill my new 120 gal tank and 75 gal sump. I am using the Constellation fixture and Votech MP40W. I will try the bulb conbination you suggested as I have not ordered my bulbs yet.

I was wondering if I should use the MB7 during the cycle. I am using about 100 lbs of dry Fiji rock and about 2-3" of Carib sugar sand. If I don't start with the MB7, when should it be started. I was planning on running the new tank for a couple of months before putting any livestock in the tank. I have two other tanks, so no hurry.

Hello,

I would add the MB7 from day one. Dose the "Heavy dosage" for two weeks and then continue on with the "normal" dosing afterward. Be sure to have your skimmer running when dosing the MB7.

Good luck!

Amazing setup! Seriously, great work mate! Snaza: Australian for great reefer!

Thanks Sonny

I moved house a month ago so lost half the stuff and the rest browned out. Colours are coming back but haven't re-aquacaped.

I'm in the process of setting up a new 60x32x20. i got a 10 bulb PM for that.

I got some MB7 in australia (very difficult to do) so i've just started dosing 8 drops of that daily along with some vodka. going to follow the same dosing as you when my new tank is ready.

Thanks Sonny

Good luck with the new setup. Please send me a link when you get the new setup going. ;)

What is the difference in cost with Zeobak vs MB7 in Australia?

I picked up a KZ Fiji Purple bulb today(thanks Marvin! :D) and it looks AMAZING with 4xBlue+!!!

After seeing how good the Fiji Purple looks I may be taking one of my Aquablue's out and replacing it with a Blue+.

Believe the hype! The Fiji Purple is the REAL DEAL.

This calls for new pictures!

Don't underestimate the ATI Procolor. I added one to my setup and absolutely love it. 2- Actinics, 3-Blueplus, and 1-Procolor looks exactly like 400w Radiums. I also run another blueplus and 3- Aquablue Specials for 5 hours/day. I have 8 T5's and 2 VHO Actinics now and the tank looks amazing.

I am running right now 5 blue plus, 1 aquablue and 1 fiji purple .... I have 2 blue plus come on first, then 2 more blue plus AND the fiji purple and finally 1 more blue plus and the aquablue come on...my absolute favorite combo now is when the 4 blue plus and the one fiji purple is on.... I LOVE it!! I am not so excited when the aquablue comes on and am trying to decide how to fix it, but I am not sure what to add instead of the aquablue...but I agree 4 blue plus and 1 fiji purple is AMAZING!!!

here are some VERY BAD pics when just those lights are on...click on the pics to see them bigger

Sonny - Post a picture of the new bulb combo if you can. I need to replace my 4 bulb fixture and I am thinking of going with Blue + ( 2 ), Aquablue Special, Fiji Purple.

I am not so excited when the aquablue comes on and am trying to decide how to fix it, but I am not sure what to add instead of the aquablue...

I have an AquaActinics 72" fixture on my 180. There are 2 rows of 7 bulbs. I only have 1 row of Aquablue Special, and I prefer the look before the Aquablues come on. I have not figured out what blub to use to replace the Aquablue Special.

I may have missed this in the thread, but why do you not use the zeolite media and the reactor? I would assume the zeolite is not critical to the process even though it is used in both the Zeovit and Brightwell methods?

Can anyone shed any light on why NeoZeo and the zeolite media has been removed from the Brightwell website?

I posted this in the Reef Chemistry thread and have gotten a few responses saying I shouldn't be dosing vodka at all. I will copy/paste it here for the "experts" opinion.

Thanks Sonny.

? re: vodka dosing chart

The table says to dose amounts until a decrease is observed then continue that amount until undetectable. At that point, cut dose in half to create maintenance dose.

My N and P are already 0. I'm actually starting the dosing with undetectable amounts so there is nothing to really cut in half. ???

I should explain I'm dosing into a "new build" that's actually been established for about two years. I had a terrible battle with dino's and bubble algae and completely took out everything and shut the lights off for about six months. I'm slowly reestablishing the system and wanted to try the MB7/Vodka route to avoid previous problems but I'm kinda confused on my target maintenance dose. Thank you for any replies.

we seem to be in in the exact same boat...I have that exact same fixture.... when you figure it out let me know...I thought about replacing the aquablue with a super actinic...I think I have enough par with the other bulbs... what do you think? I have 2 super actinics... maybe later I will try this out.
