Yeah Sonny can you please tell us what Brand of Vodka your using and what time of the day or night you do your dosing and also if you turn your skimmer off when you dose? Thanks

Hello Sonny,
I am very admired by your aquarium
Has read almost all theme
On what distance from a water surface the fixture is hung up?
How often you change lamps in the fixture?

If you have hair algae and you are dosing MB7 and vodka, is it okay to start AAs if your sps start to fade a bit? Will this give the hair algae something to feed off of? Thanks

Anyone have issues with Diatoms?

I'm not sure if it's a flow thing, or is related to the MB7/Vodka. I am also having cyano pop up in the tank so I have cut back my vodka, which never ever got above the first 1.6 initial Dosage. The cyano spots are small.

I'm really not sure if its the flow in the tank or the MB7/Vodka. My nitrates are reading 0 on API. The tank has been up maybe 2 months, everything was moved from a 14 month old 90 Gallon.

Tank Specs are in my SIG.

I am getting issues with Diatoms, cant seem to get rid of them...even AFTER a 90% water change, they are just as invasive as they were before. However, i do notice that at the start of my lighting period, there aren't noticeable, but towards the end, they are everywhere. Overnight they die off but when my lights go on they come back.

I tried reducing the amount i feed but that didn't work. I stopped the vodka dosing, only dosing MB7 and that might have helped but in a very little way. TDS on top off water is 0 and my sump has recently been clean so im running out of ideas -_-. However, even with this happening my corals are still able to grow and have been growing so im pretty happy :)

does everyone run their skimmer wet or dry? seems when I run it were the bubbles pop at the top of the collection cup it pulls to much stuff out!

just need some verification on mb7 i have 275 gallons...it says to add 1 capful(5ml) per 25 gallons for the first 2 weeks...i added 9 capfuls tonight to start! this is a little short of what it calls for but wanted to be safe?

If that's what the bottle calls for, you should be safe. Just a little advice: if you are sceptical about how much of any additive to add, you should ask *before* you dump it in the tank. Afterward is toooooo late

What you are seeing MAY be bacteria overdose...? Just a thought but when I started running ZeoVit the information with the system indicated that when you start getting a brown dusting and or growth in the tank, one should reduce the amt of bac being introduced into the tank.

In the end, each tank is different and we must individually find out what dosing is best for our tank(s). Most folks that are successful with carbon dosing have fiddled with it for some time.

I believe that most of these types of additives are best started with conservatively and ramped up over time. When starting a regimen like this, I am very careful to do one thing at a time and allow the tank to stabilize for 10 days to 2 weeks.

You are smart to take it easy and slow. Give the product time to do "it's thing" then add the carbon source a little at a time. Observe over time and act accordingly.

It is disheartening to read where some folks start carbon dosing and then go straight to adding a bunch of other stuff then end up having problems. Sunny's approach was slow and methodical, he only adds a few things to his tank and has good reasoning for adding each item.
