I actually had a couple of the larger Tunze streams but sold them to get 5 Nano streams. I figured I could control the flow better and eliminate dead spots much easier.

So far so good. :D

Nice tank... How thick is the glass?

It is 1/2" starphire. When ordering the tank, Derek @ Miracles Aquarums ran the tank dimensions through his calculator and said 1/2" would be fine on the tank.

brand salt?

For the past 13 years.......Reef Crystals. :D

Its much more consistent and always mixes clear.

Everything else I have tried has not given me the same results. Instant Ocean is also good but I find I need to supplement more when using it.

I was not clear on my 2-part question. I am looking at taking the old CR off line and set up a 2 part dosing system too. I was just wondering what type of dosing system you are using. I know you do not get every morning and get the measuring cups out.

This is what I use:

I squirt 50ML of Alk and CA when I get home from work. It only takes 20 seconds and is very simple. I may end up adding a dosing pump as the corals grow out. For now, my CA and ALK demand is not very high.

My old tank have an insatiable demand for CA and Alk. I was using a CA reactor, Deltec Kalk Stirrer, and two part just to keep up.

:eek1:

Thanks Sonny,

On my next tank I am going to have a minimum number of large coral colonies for a more open look with maybe 30 pounds of LR in a 120. I am hoping to get rid of the CR and dripping. I travel a lot so I will need the 2 part dosing pumps.

BTW, there is no doubt in my mind that your last tank had huge calcium and alk need. A beautiful tank. Of course your current is looking good too!

Sounds like the dosing pumps will be perfect for you. You can make 5 gallons of solution at a time and attach the dosing pump.

Plus, you wont have to worry about the low Ph you would be getting with a Ca reactor.

Beautiful tank Sonny. I think its time for some more Tank shots

Do you find your SPS are happy using 2 part dosing? Do you think there is any trace elements or anything else the 2part misses that a Calc Reactor would provide? Are you going to stick with the reactor.

Thanks

Aaron

Finally found your build, Sonny... VERY Sexy tank!!! Glad the T5s are treating you so well (I'm about to go 6 bulb ATI on my 65g)

Do you have any before and after pics of the poop brown acro??

Keep up the great work and more photos for us to drool on, please!!

Hey Sunny Just want to say very nice build. I am also looking to have a tank built around 90g to 100g . I was also wondering what your tank price was. If you could pm that would be great. Trying to put together a price list of everything I am going to need. I also will be using t-5 lighting that I already have from my old setup.

Thank you. :D

My tank is doing great with the two part solution. I do monthly water changes to replace lost vitamins, minerals and trace elements. That is all my tank needs. All the extra additives you see out there are really a waste of money. The only stuff I do like to use as a supplement is the Prodibio line. I add one vial of Reef boaster once a month but haven't added it lately because my skimmer has been down. My skimmer has been down for over a month now. Hopefully when the new part gets here the skimmer will be back in action.

I try to add as little as possible to the tank. I monitor the tank but rarely place my hands in the tank. I have found that if I leave my tanks alone they tend to do better.

Nature has a way of working everything out. ;)
