Good choice on the ehiem 1260. When all my other pumps freeze up due to calcium buildup (including my tunze streams) the ehiem just keeps going. As a matter of fact I cleaned it for the first time in 2 1/2 years the other day for the heck of it. I don't know what they do to those pumps but there is nothing else in the industry that can match their quality. Super quiet as well.

Can't wait to see the new tank.

When running the pump in-sump should I connect any thing to thew input or leave the cap on?

i would get a 3/4" slip to 1' slip or thread depending on how your plumbing it and use a short section of flexible 3/4" tubing to connect the eheim to the adapter with a couple hose clamps on there

i wish i was at home i have this exact setup on my tank and could take pictures for you.

Thanks Nick. If you do get a chance ths weekend I would really appreciate a pic of the pump setup.

Thank you.

There's no need to connect anything to the pump input, and the 3/4" thread will screw into the output just fine. There's no need for teflon tape either. This gives you the quickest trasition to the 1" output you're looking for.

let me know how you end up hooking up your eheim. Ive got the same pump i want to use as a feed pump to my skimmer, and its the same exact connection i need to make.

Sonny unfortunately i am in NY and my tank is in ohio so i am SOL until Wednesday when i am home

FWIW if you get the adapter bricky is talking about it will be so easy you will understand it as soon as you see the part.

I think bricky is correct. Just screw the piece he speaks of into the output on top of the pump and glue some spaflex in to it. Easy as can be. I connect a union (I think that is what it is called) about 12" up from there so I can easily disconnect the pump for cleaning.

For some reason I can't quite wrap my head around the fact that someone like me can in some way or another help a guy that has reef keeping skills like yours. My tank looks like garbage and yours are pure gold. :)

I can't wait to see what you do with this tank.

Bricky, I used what you had suggested and it worked great, thank you. :D
CeeGee, you give yourself too little credit and I too much, but thank you. :d

Here are some pics of the tank being filled up with tap water to test out the plumbing. I really love this tank, very well made. I noticed today that all the edges of the tank are polished and trimmed like the Elos tanks.

The tank will be fully operational by tonight. :D

Thanks :D

I still need to add trim to the bottom and top of the stand. I also need to hide the wires hanging over the tank. It will look real clean once i fix it up.

lokn good its always nice to have a new challenge i was thinking of soin something like redoing all my rock work and taking out all softies...

lokn fwd to the finished product.

does the tank have a background?

murphreef, the tank will have no backround. The walls behind the tank is light blue so it looks it looks good so far.

how much sand are you going to add?

I added 30lbs of Caribsea Reeflor special grade last night and it looks good.

Love the rimless!:D

A word of caution bout the Pro Color though, great for bluing sps tips, but IME lost alot of juice after the 6 month mark. Also durring it's experimental use I lost several blasto specie that some had been in my tank for years just within a month after it's introduction and the heavy red spectrum was the only thing I could contribute it to.

Look forward to the updates:cool:

Justin, thank you for the input. Currently I am not running the Pro color as the bulbs I have in it now look great.

Beautiful!!! I would love to see how you plumbed in the AP851. I'm debating between hooking it directly o the overflow or just using a pump.

your tank is starting to look awesome, man I need to get mine ordered. I feel left out. Good work and please post more pictures of it.
