Heavy skimming and vodka. :D

Sunny, its looking great! The growth is awesome.

Might just be the pics, but the LPS look a little light, are you also having trouble finding low-light places where they color up?

Thanks! :D

Everything in my tank is light in color. Part of it is the lighting, but I think the low nutrients are the biggest factor. I have not added Reefbooster(AA) in over a month now. I may have do dose some in today to help feed the corals.

Looks good Bro!!! You are still convincing me to get the same light, so when the money comes (whenever that will be) looks like that will be my choice.

Matt

The light fixture is great. T5's have met and exceeded my expectations.

Are those two yellow tangs fighting yet?

I have had these yellow tangs for a few years now and fortunately they get along just fine. They swim together and watch each others back.

I have been try to catch some of the tangs, but to no avail. I have given up for now, but hopefully one day soon I can remove all of the tangs. I really have had my eye on a group of Anthais at my LFS for a while now, but I dont want to add anymore fish to the tank until I have removed the tangs.

Looks superb as always!!!

Looks superb as always!!!

You should wait until the lights have been off for several hours (or better yet a couple hours before they come on usually), and flick the lights on quickly and be ready to go fishin'!

If your ready, you can get to them before they really have a chance to "wake-up," and they're much, much slower ;)

This of course works 100X better if you already know where they're sleeping before the lights come on.

This is the only way I even attempt to catch fish anymore.

OR, LMK and I can shoot over with an extra pair of hands (and nets) :D

Thanks for the suggestions. :D

The only problem is the fish all sleep in caves. At night the tank looks empty. I just dont want to tear my tank apart for a few fish. Especially now that my tank has found its "mojo" and is growing and coloring up well.

I've used that method to catch fish too....they are like humans...it takes a minute or two to wake up.

Or, they could be like me and lash out violently for being awoken in the middle of the night. :p Nothing like going to the emergency room at 3 AM to stitch up a fish attack. I could hear the ER Dr now...." So, what happened? Knife fight at the bar?" No, fish attack!

Hi mate,

Are you back on the vodka again. how about the prodibio stuff?

cheers

Yeah, I'm off the wagon again.

I am keeping the vodka under 2ml a day and it is working out great. My skimmer is pulling out a good amount of crap daily, and my water is crystal clear.

I picked up some Brightwell Microbak7 yesterday to replace the Prodiobio Biodigest. The Brightwell was easier to obtain and cheaper so I thought I would give it a shot. I will know after a month or so if it is good stuff.

I have not added the Prodibio Reefbooster for about a month now. The only negative side affect I have seen is that my corals are slightly lighter in color.

Came home to a minor rock slide yesterday. Seems my large Teardrop Maxima is getting a little too heavy for the rock work. I came home and found that the back side of the left island had completly collapsed due to the weight of the clam.

I rearranged the island but am not sure if I like it yet. Maybe I can fiddle around with it tonight and see how it looks.

Ill post some shots of the rearrangement when I get through.

Sunny - couple questions about your substrate as I am planning out a new 120G SPS reef. After a couple months now, what's your opinion of the Carib Sea Flor Special Grade Reef Sand? In hindsight would you use it again or just regular sugar sized sand?
In your 100G tank with lots of flow does it blow around less and leave less sandless areas than sugar sand? Any other pros & cons?
Thanks.

Well, I have been using the reeflor special grade for years now with good results. It blows around less then sugar sized sand and looks good. I think it is the perfect size for a sandbed.

I switched over Micobacter7 a few weeks ago and its working just fine. Its so much cheaper.

Well, so far so good. I have been dosing it for one week now and everything is still the same so its working good. I noticed an immediate reaction from my corals once I dosed it in the tank. They all extended their feeders and opened up.

My tank is nice the way it is so Im not trying to change anything. I just need a good and stable supply of bacteria.

I wasn't looking to change anything either....But my LFS carries BW stuff and prodibio can get expensive when you have a lot of water volume.
