Sony A350 opinion

I'm about to buy the Sony A350 w/ 18-70mm f3.5-5.6 3.9x zoom lens as my wedding gift at a great deal (circuit city for 540 inc tax if any wants to get one).

Although Sony is new, Minolta is not so they have a name and history behind them

Does anyone have any opinions good or bad regarding this camera.

Being a newbie I would also like some insight on taking quality pictures. As I want to take it on my honeymoon in Tahaiti

Thanks!

I have the A300 and love it so far! Im not sure what the differences are but I would check into it. I payed $410 for the A300.

My wife and I bought that exact camera back in December. I am no photo expert, but I love the pictures it takes. I am sure with some sort of photo-shopping techniques I could get really nice picture, but I am not there yet.

The best advice I was given, take lots of pictures. Get yourself a good size card and load it up. I find that I am taking 10 plus pictures sometimes of the same thing. Review the picture and delete the ones you don't like. The first week I had the camera, I think I had something like 700 pictures on the card. I uploaded them to the computer and then went through and deleted the ones that I didn't like or didn't turn out like I thought it was going to.

Sorry ATM! Havent been on this thread lately. I got mine at Circut City. Im not sure if there are any around you. They are going under and having GREAT sales on the SLR's.

Here are a few shots I took with the stock lens.

Where did you buy your camera

We got ours at Best Buy. It was a package with an extra battery, case and Memory card for $699.

Here are a few of the first pictures I took of the FW fish.

The good thing about sony is you can find used minolta macro lenses pretty cheap on cl or at pawn shops.

Here's apic I took with my a200 with a sigma 80mm macro lens that I bought at a pawn shop for $40. And I'm by no means a photo expert

You did see that I bought the A300. Not the A350. Thats why there is such a big price difference. Sorry I just looked at the receipt and it was $419.99.

Lowincwrx What lens are you talking about? By the way GREAT shot!

Thanks Dustin, I'll have to check later on the exact model on that lens.

The camera came with a lens. It says 3.5-5.6/18-70 on the lens. Im not sure what all that means cause Im new to the SLR and Lens.

That would be great! Im new to the lens. When Im looking for a lens for close up shots I know I want a macro lens but what MM works best for aquarium shots? Soory ATM not tryin to steal your thread.

Hey make your own thread! No I don't mind. It a good question. What do the numbers in front of the lens mean
