Re: any advise of the salt mix to use for my Zeovit system - target SPS !

Dear All,

I have use Red Sea pro coral sat and Red Sea salt in the past but due to my low nutrient system I always got STNed due to high KH.

Now I am planning to switch back to salt mix after using NSW , I would like to know which brand of salt will give me low KH say between 6.5 to 7.5 dkh?

I am in full Zeovit system now but I hardly find or if not too expensive to use KZ salt here in my country . So will appreciate to received your precious advises .

Cheers,

MD

Red Sea Blue Bucket mixes to 7.8 KH, this is the one you want to use. Stay away from Coral Pro. :)

Thanks for your advise , did try blue bucket of Red Sea , still high KH at 8.5 to 9 dkh .

Any other brand to advise ?

Zeovit Reefer Best Reef Salt mix with RO/DI water will only give you about 5.5 dKh, which you can add baking soda to raise it.

Thanks ! But I try to find the kz salt here I think it is not widely distribute and kind of very expensive too around $3400 / 20 kgs box?

I been trying to find some salt that can be around 7-7.7 dkh, I have seen Red Sea Blue Bucket has this KH level but it is around salinity of 33 ppt? I always goes with 38.2 gms/ liter of mixing or 35 ppt , I wonder instead of 35 ppt , can I opted for only 33 ppt for SPS corals ?

Blue Bucket lists these params at 35.5 ppt

Corals
35.5 ppt
7.8 "“ 8.2 / 2.8 "“ 2.9 (Alk)
420 "“ 440 (Calcium)
1250 "“ 1310 (Mg)
380 "“ 400 (K)

Here in the states I've always found this salt to mix spot on to these levels using a temperature correcting refractometer calibrated with 35ppt fluid.

Yes this is what I also follow but most of the time it gives 8.5 dkh and due to my low nutrient I got Stned in my corals then.

That is why I think to be on the save side how about I use the much lower ppt formulation ?
