Since I installed an Aquacontroller 3 on my 120 that is cycling I have been feeling kinda geeky being able to monitor and control the tank from the internet at work...so...I decided to take my geekyness one step farther and buy a wireless webcam...geek, geek , geek :eek2:

after the 120 cycles and something besides rock is in it I will put the camera back in the fishroom...but for now I put in front of my 35g nano in my living room to try out...I really thought the quality of the video would be a little better...but oh well...what do you want for $120...certainly didn't expect HD! :D

Tank Cam

it is a Linksys WVC54GC...I don't have a PC in the room with the tank so I wanted one that was wireless and had a built-in webserver so I didn't have to have it wired to a PC...

just wish it was a little better quality video feed...it is already on the "very high" quality setting...really looks crappy at the "normal" quality setting...

Does the camera pickup sound? I've seen other cams that have been setup and they picked up sound in the room and I'm sure you can imagine that wouldn't be good =)

nope...no sound...but it does have a motion detector that can send an e-mail plus up to 5 sec of video to you when it detects motion..

Mike...nope caught that damn fish and have called the Tang Police thanks to the email I recieved with video...caught him blue finned!

Have to admit...last night I was playing...had the Aquacontroller website open and the camera site open...it was sort of cool to turn on the tank lights via the internet and then watch them come on through the camera...

I don't know CleveYank...still seems sort of geeky to me...next thing you will know I will have a pocket protector! :D

Note to Self...Next time in Big Lots look around to see if they have one and pickup pocket protector for Glalderman for ha ha's

Thinslis...not true. Buddy of mine from highschool wore one then...and he ended up at CASE. Graduated from there...went to work at local company here. I bumped into him 12 or so years later at a Wendy's during lunch hour. He still had it. If it were not for the fact that he's one of the top 2 or 3 peers of mine...I would have thought it funny and probably would have busted his chops about it. But he's "The guy" or Honcho in R and D for that company. Geek or not...don't mess with the power of the pocket protector...lol
