Sorting fish

Aquaculture supply stores sell graders that basically sort the fish for you.But for food fish you don't look for the same features.
I do it your way, did it before when at cquest too since i look for gill/mouth deformities and the only way to see this is to catch the fish, look, flip, look and pack.

I made a grader to sort by size and then just eyeball them when packing. The grader isn't perfect because many small ones just ball up with the others and refuse to go through, so I still have to hand pick 'em. It's just a lot easier when at least most of the little ones are out and they are all concentrated in the grader rather than running loose in the tank.

I don't think it's fair they taught you the handshake, I still don't know it and was told (lied to?) that I had to come to IMAC for the official ceremony
I think I have been decieved and it's just a ploy to make me travel to Chicago :mad2:

Anyway the grader was a PITA to make but I use it a lot and I'm glad to have it. If the link below works you will see one that inspired me. Mine is not adjustable, picking the spacing was a crapshoot but I got it right. Basically I built a shoebox shaped thing out of scrap acrylic and glued in half round acrylic rods to make the bottom. It's sorts for girth not length so you do get some short FAT clowns in there

I sort by-hand using catch-cups, bowls, etc before shipping. Sometimes it takes a looong time. I should really "pre-sort" so that I have tanks full of ready-to-go fish, but this way I can easily make custom orders.
AH, I missed the handshake at IMAC! I was late because of school (it's always interfering with my education...) I can provide the above...I'll be there again this year (hopefully on-time)

i have never been to a conference so imagine my disbelief that if i want to be official i have to go to 1 and have a few hundred fish with pictures and reciepts
