Soulpatch's 150 SC build

I just want to buffer the effluent before it hits the tank...

You don't run a refugium, right? If you did, you could just drip the effluent into there. If you don't, then you could maybe just have it dump into a high flow area, or add an air bubbler to the sump and have it drip into there to oxygenate the hell out of it.

I have a refugium compartment that is currently empty save for my marine pure and the GHA I have growing in there. I need to get some chateo to throw in there.

I drip mine into a cup above my return pump. That's if you have an in sump return. It drips into the return pump and buffers there before hitting tank

Drip it into the hair algae. It'll just hit it with more oxygenated water. Honestly, either way, it's unlikely to be a big deal.

so if I dont need to worry about buffering it then I could just get the geo 612 and come in at 369 vs. 499 for the vertex but I would lose some of the features like the gas recycling and such in the vertex. Hmm. decisions decisions

Yea I am looking into the Vertex myself. Its a little more expencive but I like the features such as the gas recycling and flow meter. But after seeing the carbon doser I might go for a reactor thats a little less since its a little more than I wanted to spend on a regulator. Plus the peice of mind of not having to trust a solenoid or needle valve would be nice. But in the end its all going to cost upwards of a $1000 anyways so why not spend a little more and get something I won't want to replace down the road because I took the cheaper option....hopefully

You are still trusting in a solenoid with the carbon doser. It is basically what it is. Instead of having a solenoid as a backup for the needle valve the carbon doser mixes the two together.

The solenoid is more stable then most needle valves out there unless you want to build your own dual stage regulator. But from everything I saw I would be back up to the 250-350 price range anyway so I might as well just get a unit that is easier for the operator.

That all said I could still change my mind as I saw a REALLY cool regulator that someone plasti dipped and it got me thinking of a blue and white scheme to match everything else. HA HA.

Wow a plasti dipped regulator sounds like it would look really cool especially with all your color coordination!

I already have been talking to RT BRS about swapping out the red lines on the Vertex for blue and I believe they are going to throw in the RODI tubing for me with it so I can do so. HA HA. I sent him a pic of my inner stand and he instantly got it.

I think I will do the CO2 bottle orange regardless as I have hints or orange in my stand now with the DOS tubing, and my electrical conduits.

Thanks man. It's hard to keep a stand looking organized and clean. I cannot wait till I am finally to the point of selling my house and moving to a new one. The next home will have a dedicated fish room for everything. I wont have to worry about noise or having things in different closets and all that. Mixing station and everything all in one room with organized shelves for materials and most importantly a set up TTM and QT station.

Most people set aside money for new furniture or paint and such when they plan for a move. I am planning on setting aside 5K just for the fish room. Well in all honesty 5K for both fish room and potentially a walk in humidor for my cigars with ventilation so I can smoke inside finally...

That sounds beautiful...fish room and cigar room LOL! I have a small fish room (it just big enough for the tank sump and frag tank...water station is on backside of house:uhoh2:) that is shared with my master bedroom. So i finally convinced my wife that we should remodel the FL room into a giant fish room:idea:...only so we can have more room in the master bedroom(atleast thats what she is interested in) LOL. But if we do that then I would have room to have all my stuff in one place as well. So I too am setting aside money just for my fish room too.

Awesome setup and well thought systems. :) I will definitely get enlightened for my huge tank, that I am planning for next year.

ordered some pods for the tank. got them in last night.

My 2 new turbos are doing wonders on the algae i have in the tank. AWC is online and aiding in export of nutrients.

I do need to order in some macro yet to get my refugium going again. i have gha in there now which does the job i guess. i also threw an emerald in the sump with 2 snails so they can munch on that.

Overall tank is doin well. I have been contemplating removing some of the rock to be more minimal and aid flow but that is thought for later.

ordering the calcium reactor tonight I think. throw in a co2 tank as well but undecided on the rest yet... still looking hard with doing my own regulator. keeping my eye open for masterflex pump too but in my price range likely a later term addition

What kind of algae are you contemplating and where are you getting yours from. I am about to get some as well, but not sure what kind or from where...

chateo to start. im going to do a small tray of mud with some other macro as well but still undecided. i dont want to go all out since not a display fuge but still want it to look decent.
