Soulpatch's 150 SC build

Sorry to hear about the PBT. They always sound like one of the more finnicky tangs to keep.

Anxiously awaiting new pics! Particularly FTS!

I have to make a tweak to my sump as the refugium drains into the skimmer section and causes some bubbles but my skimmer is right there and instead of the bubbles dissapating in the skimmer section they bounce off my skimmer and into the return section. So I get a very small amount of micro bubbles in the tank. It is minor but there are some.

I have the LFS on the lookout for another PBT and a good blonde naso for me. I thinkt he PBT will be ordered in this week as they were available at his preferred supplier. My Harlequin tusk is proving to be damn near impossible to find though as no one has Australians right now.

One or two minor issues with the tank that need to be dealt with which are mostly efficiency gains but I want to look it over nonetheless.

They had a regular naso bit I wanted a blonde unless one went up today I missed

Also need new pump for my skimmer. Finally powered it up in the tank and while messing with the lights I got zapped slightly. I'm surprised my gfi didn't blow bit perhaps to minor to trip it.

Either way need to order in a new pump this week

Oh sweet. Yeah I would grab it if medium or juvenile but I don't want extra large to cause compatibility issues. You find me a small to medium though and I will PayPal you a reward

Good point on the size. That didn't cross my mind- I'll keep an eye out, I've seen some at my local LFS here in Kansas City. Next time I'm in there I'll see if he has a good source.

Yeah tons of Indo Tusks floating in the market right now but no Australian. They might come into season during the summer. I have no idea. I just know I want a smaller one and to get it in the tank ASAP. It will be my show piece and will be the perfect counter to the melanarus wrasse in there. The tangs and cardinals to provide movement.

I just hope the tusk doesnt get aggressive when my hands go into the tank. HA HA. Those teeth look awesome but I dont think I will find them as cool when sunk into my finger.

Life happens. Thankfully I am only out $50 for the PBT since it was out of the warranty period. Either way better to happen in QT then the tank.

The kole tang and cardinals are all eating like monsters and done all treatments.

My clown looks down onto the QT tank in contempt as he likes having the 150 to himself.

Going to my LFS tonight to trade in my GSP, Polyps, and zoas from the nano. Hoping to come home with a few new sticks for the tank. I am really hoping for an oregan tort if he has any as I need some blue in my tank. Also will be looking for a green slimer or such to have some green in there as well.

I added to his order list last night to find me new tangs as well as a nice rainbow BTA. I think I will try the BTA in the tank for a while and see how I like it. I am so lightly stocked at this point I should be able to handle it and let it find its home.

As for the equipment I am trying to decide on either a Mag 18 or a SP4 for my skimmer replacement pump. Also still trying to figure out my WAV pumps. I am not convinced I will not need another pump or two yet so as to have enough flow across all of my rock work. I can add another WAV if needed though not sure where I could put it as the back glass vinyl really impedes the magnets of the pumps. I also worry about the overflow since there is the small gap between the glass and acrylic so that might not be enough either. I will figure it out in time though as the tank becomes stocked and I need to shoot water in different spots...

You didn't post that, I was just mocking you for your first foray into SPS in the new tank being one of the rarest, most expensive, most beautiful SPS available in the hobby.

At this point, the OT is my white whale. That being said, since my corals aren't looking so hot these days, maybe it's better not to have the nicest coral around just to disappoint myself with it.

Rainbow BTA will be nice and I'm sure your clown will thank you for it. If you have a rock with a nice size hole in it that would be the perfect spot. My RBTA hasn't not moved since day 1 from the hole I put him in but we'll see in a year or two as he gets bigger when his base out grows that hole what he does. The clown and him are perfectly contempt where they are, the clown even bites me when I stick my hand in the tank by them as I'm pulling out unwanted hair algae.

Well hopefully I can get it going and can just give you some frags so you aren't so concerned about the expense. My LFS gets them locally from another guy who has them so the cost is not obsene and I get my discounts being that I drop tons of money at the store...

But yes my acans and such give off a lot of beautiful yellows, reds, oranges, and such but I need more green and blue in the tank. Probably get a bonsai as well while I am at it tonight to have that purple neon green accent.

My monti will probably make the move and hopfully that means he will color back up and give the same purple/green of a bonsai that he had been showing before I let the nano go a bit.

Mav - That is awesome to hear. I know I am taking a risk and am doing so with other things as well like my wrasse selections but at the same time I want a certain look and am willing to pay a certain price to get it if I need to. Some CUC will go missing and I might lose a couple corals to a walking nem but overall I think I will be happier having them in there. Just gives more life and I can imagine my daughter loving to see "nemo" finally get his home. She asks where his home is everytime after watching that movie...

Bought supplies to mount the ATI on sliders so should be a fun project.

And to ensure this is all going in the right direction I also ordered some fish to come in which will go through QT and treatment:

Powder Blue
Naso
Black Ice Clown

I need to decide on some other fish as well but they will start me off.
Do you order your fish online? Corals? If so where from and have they always been of good quality

Ugh more money thrown out the door to get items I needed to replace for TTM and some treatment for the incoming fish. I have to pick up another 20 gallon tomorrow or Friday to be ready.

Also ordered a replacement tunze ATO ump as mine is quite loud and I want a backup regardless.

Excited that the tank is coming together and within the next 50 days I will have fish in the tank.

TTM - 12 days
Prazipro - 7 days
QT/Observation - 30 days

It will be hard to have fish out that long but I want this done right. With the amount I just spent on these fish and the tank in general I want to insure I get off on the right foot.
What's ttm and prazi? Sorry for the questions, newer to the hobby. Just got a jbj nano in October. I already want bigger but was crunching numbers and I just can't afford to convert the 75 fresh into salt yet so I'm going all in with the nano. I'll be following this one though. Great tank! Maybe I'll be there in a couple years lol
