Soulpatch's build thread (ongoing)

So I need to speed up the final hookup of my ATO. With the rear wide open and the feeding slot open for the AFS my evap rate has gone up drastically. I will need to put it together tonight to keep things running smoothly.

How's the Aquamaxx working out for you? I hate, I repeat.....HATE, my Tunze 9001 simply due to how temperamental it is with the water level (I had, and still have sitting on a shelf, a 9002 that had the same issue). Plus I think I want to use the space it's eating up in the middle chamber for chaeto to keep some pods happy.

I am liking the aquamaxx right now. It was a serious pain and nerve wracking install since I had to cut so much of the hood but now that it is done I am glad I did it.

The Tunze was awesome for the hour it was at the perfect water level then it was a pain. I had some chateo in my middle block and the tunze bothered it so now that I have the aquamaxx I can go back that route. I just need to order some more in with an order to get in a few more snails...

How are you tuning your rapid LEDs? I just installed a puck in my BC29 as well. Have you noticed any bleaching of new corals or any problems?

I hand tuned it with the dimmer dials for now. I am waiting till this weekend to hook into the apex and digitally tune it. No bleaching with the corals but it did take them about a day to reopen and extend again. I bought them from a shop that had LEDs on them so it was probably closer to what they were used to them the PC lights I had.

No issue with the small bit of food I load into it. It could empty it all in one load and that would be fine. I load in the food the morning feed the night before. My lights go on after I am at work so want my fish feed then and I feed more when I get home
That's pretty smart, just put in enough for one feeding instead of filling it and having it dump in a full standard rotation. You also get two feedings a day that are spaced out.

I will post pics tomorrow but I just hooked up the BRS deluxe reactor to run some GFO and Carbon to combat the GHA I am dealing with right now.

OK sorry for the delay but not been feeling well and my toddler does not seem to care...Coming this week I have some 2 part dosing materials coming. I need to figure out what pump I want to get. Right now I am leaning more towards BRS dosers due to the cost but the Neptune DOS unit intrigues me and looks cool.

Current FTS (yes my glass is a mess but again not been feeling well so did not wipe off glass...)

My Corals with the updates and 2 new (acan and red planter) The red planet was fragged to my local reef store and it came under super powered lights so it is still acclimating to my tank and my lights are slowly going up as well.

You can see some of my algae issues in the tank especially in the pics with the red planet. That is the reason for my reactor. SO I picked up a BRS reactor and am currently running gfo and carbon in it. The dose is less then is stated for my tank but I want to build it up so as to not shock anything. I also have 2 more elbows coming in to better route the plumbing.

You can see the flow adapter in this pic and that the elbow and flow adjuster get in the way of the lid when opening some. This is the main reason for the additional elbow order.

Here you can see I am running a small amount of the material. I also do not have it tumbling or such at all since the gfo would grind up the carbon. Since it is highly mixed with a 2-1 carbon/gfo mix I am not concerned with clumping.

When you're all squared away on your tank soul, come fix mine.... :D

What's wrong with yours? Shoot me a pm if needed. I can take pics or go into MUCH more detailed install of one of my parts if needed with more pics and step by step instructions.

Maybe I will shoot some pics this week as I hook up the rest of the items to my apex and clean up my cabinet.

I am also looking to get a shelf unit to put above the biocube to hold some of my other items like food and chemicals. Right now I have taken the top of my daughters bookshelf next to the biocube.

I also need to get some wood and finish my water change station. I want to put my brute trashcan up a bit higher off of the cement floor with a bulkhead at the bottom that I can hook up to a pipe or tube to send water to a mixing bucket. Still need to figure out exactly how I want to set it up but that is a project coming up.

It is really hard to do things recently though as the family has been sick on and off for the past month and the wife is working tax season. So she has a ton of overtime she is putting in at the accounting firm and I have to play daddy daycare most of the week with an almost 2 year old. Impossible to work on the tank with a little one wanting to "help"
