Just a suggestion since you'll already have the breakout box, why not wire your cabinet lights to a door switch? That way when you open the stand doors, the lights come on automatically, and when you shut the doors, they go off automatically?
I plan on doing my next build this way.
By the way, thanks for the link to the strip lights. Ordered 2 rolls for my ext build and a project I've been needing "under cabinet" lights for. :thumbsup:

Ha yes in a way I guess these are. Probably have a couple more water changes on this little guy to go before it is shut down. I really need to get the wife's DSLR out and my BOA lens cover so I can get accurate pics. These pics do not give the colors justice at all... My acans have a lot of yellow and green that does nto show up in these. IE the third pic down is a VERY rainbow acan with a ton of yellow and green in the rings but it doesnt show up on my cell camera.
I will remove everything from the tank (rock and sand) and put in some fresh sand most likely simply since I like the look and it can hold frag plugs then put the frag rack I got in there. I have some marine pure left I will throw in the tank as well just in case I need to take it offline from the big tank so it continues to have some filtration.
Actually have a couple plates in there now being seeded this week so I can move them over to the big tank to aid that cycle.
I guess it impacts this tank directly for a few more weeks but I have a Fluval SP2 pump being sent to me ($50 on amazon woot) and some camber couplings so I can build out my water change station. You can see my idea in my other thread but I think I have it down to have a method to drain a tank/sump and then to refill using same hosing by flipping where it is plugged into and throwing a valve or two. Already have a small danner pump to pump water from my RODI res to the mixing tank.

How often do you feed your acans? Got my first one with 2 heads/polyps a couple weeks ago from my LFS for free because the other frags were a lot bigger and he figured no one was going to buy it for the same price as the other ones, plus I was buying a chalice frag too. Right now I'm doing twice a week, a piece of salmon for each head.

Your LED strip looks similar to mine. If they are the same, then if you turn on the lights with the remote, then unplug them, when you plug them back in they should come back on automatically. I discovered that by accident and now have mine controlled by a door switch through my Apex. Nice build!

I havent played with this exact set to know that or not honestly. In my race trailer I was unable to do that as they do not come back on when I gave them power.
If it works I would probably still skip it since I would need to run 3 different switches as I have 3 doors on the stand. Easier to just grab a remote off the side of the stand I think.

Nope. Not scheduled till February.
That said I have extension cables and a very powerful generator ready to go.
I do need to run out tonight and fill up my gas canisters though.
You'll have the best solution in place, but for anyone like me with less than optimal situations, I can't recommend an MP10 with the battery backup enough. It lasts about 3 days at it's turned down power of 30% or so (I think it runs at 25% or 50% of your normal day-to-day setting).
If I weren't in NYC, in an apartment, immediately between 2 powerplants, and in an area that didn't lose power at all during or after hurricane Sandy, I would have a generator. When I had my 120g tank in FL, we had a nice big generator, but I don't think it could run the AC handlers though. When cost of corals >= cost of generator, it's time to start thinking about it. And that whole "preserving lives you've promised to guard by purchasing" thing.
Good luck with the storm fellas. I am the only one looking forward to it. I love the snow. I just wish I had more of it. Our New Year's trip to Burlington, VT was very disappointing. Melty slush in otherwise beautiful terrain.

we lose power quite a bit so a generator was purchased as soon as we had a little one. I need to ensure heat and such for her. Thankfully we are on city water and sewer so we never lose those.
With the bigger genny when it is plugged in it will power my HVAC and everything else.
