Source for DI Resin

Does any know of source to purchase DI resin in bulk?

I have been buying 7.5 pound bags from Bulk Reef Supply, but with my well water, the resin does not last a very long time.

sounds like u possibly may need to dig a little further into your RO system. Because buying resin in bulk is going to cost a lot. I'd invest in a better RO before buying bulk DI resin if its possible.

Being that you are on a well I would first suspect that your RO unit isnt getting the proper PSI rating for the membrane to operate efficiently.

Whats your line pressure?

RO Readings

I just installed a pressure gauge on the inlet side of the RO unit.

With just the RO system running the water pressure is 60 PSI. When water is being used at other locations in the house, the water pressure drops to 40 PSI.

The outlet side of the RO system is running 5-10 PPM TDS and the outlet side of the DI canisters is 0 PPM TDS.

I am having to replace the DI resin about every 90 gallons.

Any suggestions?

I have the same problem, its co2 in the well water. The easiest way to fix this is- undo the line coming out of the membrane, the good water line that feeds your di resin chamber. Run this line into a container and put in a airstone to airate the water(24hrs). Then use a small cheap pump to pump the water intp your di resin chamber. This should take care of your problem, dont throw away your old resin, just let it sit out in a pan or bowl for a day or so, keep moist and it will recharge itself if was exhausted from co2.

I'm not sure about the Co2 never had that problem but whats the TDS before it enters your RO? Like whats the TDS straight from the kitchen sink? It sounds like your RO membrane is working pretty well if your only getting 5-10 TDS before it enters the DI. Most good membranes will cut 100 TDS down to 2, so if your TDS is around 300 then you could expect around 6 TDS.

Sounds like pressure is not the issue, but also keep in mind, below 60 PSI, your membrane loses 1 percent of rejection for every pound you decrease in pressure.

call airwaterice, and ask them if a delivery pump would benefit your RO system, it will provide constant line pressure to your unit regardless of your house pressure.

I used their di but switched to buying from High def coral. his di last much longer on my well water. I definately need a booster pump but havent bit the bullet and bought one yet. I run between 35 -50 depending other uses. I was only getting about 125-175 gls per di fill. Deinately call AWI they can walk you through it and figure out whats up.

Hmm. Here's some data re rejection and pressure:
