South Central Iowa water problem

I posted this to the general reef forum too at: http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1540517

We are under a boil alert for the water in seven southern Iowa counties. They say it is because of silt and sediment coming in from the water runoff caused by the warm weather. The plant had something go wrong I guess.

Can I use the RODI water I make, or is it unsafe as well. We are told it isn't bacteria, but we are also told that drinking it can cause diarhea, nausea and headache. Hmmmm....

Would you use the RODI or buy distilled? The distilled is gone from the shelves, and we can get botteled Disanni or Aquafina or gallons of "Spring Water"/Drinking Water.

Sorry to hear about your h2o Jim. If you are in town you can bring some h2o totes over for rodi, I have 125g @ all times. The compacts look awsome! Thanks! My coral has already recovered from fragging on sunday! Dave

Thanks for the offer. I think I'm going to look for distilled water somewhere. I am going to be gone for a while in a few weeks, and my reef sitter can use that very easily. My plan was to start laying in a supply of it now for him to use. Now the shelves are empty. I'll find it somewhere. Thanks!

We've been advised that after five days of a boil alert for our water we will have at least another five days of undrinkable water. Jim from The Filter Guys says that if the water coming out of my RODI is clear that I can use it in my aquarium, but it would still not be suitable for drinking.

I guess I'm going with that. Wish me luck.
