South OC Chloramine PSA

If you are using the standard carbon filter you are going to have chloramines get past it. Thet are hard on your RO membrane and on your corals! I run two Chlorpus 10 filters in series, I remove the first filter in line every 1000 gallons and move the #2 filter into the #1 slot and put the new filter in the #2 slot.

Mike, are you changing them at 1000g of source water or 1000g of product water?

Greg, I change them out every 1000 gallons of product water. I test sporadically for chloramine and chlorine and haven't detected any within the limitations of the test kit changing them out at that rate. After the initial 1000 gallons I move them from the #2 position to the #1 slot since I'm running two in series.

This reminds me of a successful sps keeper in OC that mixes his sw with carbon (only) filtered tap water. Somehow it's working for him?
