Southdown sand = Cloudy water?

I dropped half a bag of Southdown in my tank last week, and till this day it still looks like skim milk in my tank... is there any way to get rid of this besides lots and lots of water change? I probably rinsed the sand once or twice before dropping them in.

I just put on an AquaClear filter today with its sponge, I think the milky white substance is too tiny to be trapped.

filter floss or polyfilters will work as will carbon. no matter how fine the particles all will settle ........eventually. your flow is just keeping it in the water column

mine cleared up within 2 days, but i couldnt tell becasue my damsel was digging alot, put some cotton balls in yer filter or sump, clears it up in abotu a day

It will clear up but will always be a problem with blowing around. Everytime a fish kicks it up it will blow all around your tank. I will not be using it on my next tank.

filter floss & polyfilter sounds like something I want to try next. I am running carbon already I am hoping that will help. Will I need to get a special filter for the filter floss / polyfilter, or can I get a sheet / pack of them and put it in my aquaclear filter?

Cotton balls? Are you serious??

I have always used Southdown, but never has it been this bad... this is pretty crazy. Alternatively, I can turn off all the flow and let it all settle down and try to siphon out the top layer... but I am thinking some sort of mechanical filtration will do a much thourghout job.

-Polyfilter (you put this in your regular filter it's like HUGE cotton balls)
-Carbon

Trust me it will go away after awhile. You don't want that very fine "powder" settling you want it out of the tank. .

My brother put the southdown in his new tank and we took out all we could before adding the rock and coral. It was even settling in the bottom of his protein skimmer. Just get rid of it in my opinion
