space between sand bed , and live rock ?

How many people have their live rock supported above their sand bed ? If you have your rock elevated off the sand bed , how did you support it , and how much space between the the sand bed , and the bottom of your rock ?

I have been thinking about mounting my rock on PVC tubes . I cut a section of 2" PVC 3" long and mounted a piece of dry rock on top with zip ties

My sand bed will be 2" deep .

My rock is supported but not really lifted off the sand. I used aqua mend and stuck pieces of rubble rock to the bottom of the rock. I could get under most of it if i needed too. Glass is dirty, sorry about the pic
