Space needed between wall and mp40

I'm thinking about buying a mp40wes for my 75 g mixed reef, but I noticed that my tank is 2 1/4 inches from wall. Is this too close. Why can't you put it tight to the wall? Think I can move my tank one inch with minimal water taken out?? Thanks for the help

the mp40 dry side is just a hair over 2 1/2" You need 2 3/4-3" to make it fit. I have my tank at 3" away from the wall to fit one on the back

You will also want to leave an air gap between the dryside motor and the wall to allow for proper cooling and air exchange.
