Spawn 5 another attempt.

Thanks Jason

I’m just glad I had 2 buckets of rots going, I didn’t expect that many to make it and I’m getting low on rotifers. What should I be feeding besides the rots and baby brine. In other words what is the next stage of food for them?

The question is not just for Jason but anyone that may have an answer.

I do have some TDO C-1 on hand.

Yes always use a sieve or you will foul the water, I made my own. I bought a sheet of 53 micron mesh from amazon and then took a empty plastic planters peanut jar cut the bottom off and then with a drimel cut the lid leaving only the threaded ring. Then just cut a piece of mesh stretch it tight over the jar and screw on the ring.

Nice job sport! Hopefully I am not far behind you, getting my phyto and rots around for a clutch that should be laid in the next couple days. After brine can you do mysids, or start to try mixing in some Otohime?

Really don't know haven't got that far yet.

Hey Sport,
Nice job so far. When I raised a few batches I went from rots then added crushed New Life Spectrum Grow pellets about day 4 as well as rots. Just took NLS grow pellets and crushed them into a powder. It didnt take long to switch to powder food. I didnt use any live food.

sport,
another questions, on the rotifers you guys seive them out of their water. They won't die coming in contact with air?

sorry for the OT questions, then how do you do water changes for the culture if you do not reuse the water? I assume you would be throwing out rotifers, if you just dump water.

Sorry, I was going to go into that but was leaving work. What I do is sieve the rotifers over the sink and feed the fry what they need. Then for the rest of the water that needs changed out I do it the same way and feed that to one of my other reef or anemone tanks. I keep about 3.5 - 4 gallons in my buckets and change out 1 gallon a day. I also keep a 2 liter bottle on vaction in my frig in case there would be a crash.

Feel free to ask questions but I can tell you there are many more people here that know much more about this than I do. I will always share what I do know from exprience. Hope this helps. :)

Day 10 No Loses

Day 10 No Loses

Well guys, I'm starting to relax a little I've had no loses since day 6 and I'm through meta now.

I feed prepared food this evening, used a pinch of TDO-A and they love it. I will feed some newly hatch brine and 2 sieves of rots about 3 hours from now and that will be it until morning.

I would like to thank all of you for watching my thread and words of encouragement and support.

A special thanks to my friend Shaun form the great state of SC for his help what an inspiration!

it is great to hear that they are doing well. thank you agin for the help. now do you just put the seive into the tank, or is there any other to get the rotifers from the seive into the fry tank?

I just hold my sieve horizontal slowly submerse it the tank and gently rinse them out. Don't worry if a few fry get pull into the sieve that why I say be gentle it's not to protect the rots.
