spawn video

I no longer raise Clownfish.

Several years ago Jarek (Ithaca Reef) was raising and selling ocellaris from a spawning pair I once had.

Many many years ago I used to raise tomato clowns.
It's a labor intensive project that I don't see myself getting involved in again HOWEVER if my percula were to spawn on an easily removable tile (or similar) I would be inclined to sell viable eggs before they become plankton.

sound like a cool idea,I was thinking of giving clowns a go sometime..Not sure how ofter yours spawn, but I'd like to learn more about it and get equipment..Maybe a month or so down the road..

All depending on the clowns liking a tile though lol

Hmmmm don't know why my reply didn't show .......anyhow beatifl clowns Gary and. Got some amazing stills, thanks for sharing :) this may be a dumb question but what are the chances any of the clowns will make it if left in the tank? Or do they get eaten?

thanks.........

thanks.........

newly hatched clownfish (Amphiprion larvae) become sushi very quickly in a reef aquarium ;)

they must be immediately removed and placed in a growout system if to survive.

it's not the size of the system that matters

it's not the size of the system that matters

but rather the density of a food source (ie: rotifers).

That's why 10 gallon tanks are used for growout.
