spawning

I noticed my tank suddenly getting cloudy last night and found my Magnifica spawning last night. took a few hours and then it was very deflated and laying on the rock looking dead. This also triggered my snails to spawn. This morning the magnifica looked back to normal but acting a little weird. Has anyone had experience with this. I did research but not much out there about it. I read that it could have to do with the moon phase or low tide. I have never seen this before.

Do you have a moonlight that simulates the natural cycle?
It is very likely that anemone spawning is induced/synchronized by the moon cycle like it is with corals.

Interesting, I notice my stomatella and dusters spawn every once in a while. I have a skylight that somehow doesn't allow direct sun but the moon is always peeking in giving natural moon light to the tank. Wonder what that will mean to the corals, the tank is relatively new still.

ThRower, I do not have a moonlight that simulates the natural but I have one programmed for 3 hours each night. It was the craziest thing I have ever seen and now has done it again to night. Was fully inflated today and now deflated again tonight. good thing I witnessed it or it would have been out of the tank and in QT last night.

dgphelps, no natural moonlight so not sure what the trigger was. But looked great all day and then did it again at the same time tonight and now looks horrible again. :(

so it did the same last night which makes it 2 nights in a roll. So far tonight it looks normal. If anyone has any info on this I would appreciate it if you would pass it on. I n the 2 years I have kept anemones I have never seen it before.

addictedreefer, I would love to post pics and some awesome video I captured but I don't know how to post it on here. I have tried. so any info on that would help also

today the Magnifica looks larger than ever. Did not spawn last night. This Nem is about 20" diameter so you can imagine when it looks bigger. It host 7 clowns and as beautiful as ever.
