Spawns in my tank

Hi All,
Iv been nerding out lately about stuff spawning in my tank so I thought I'd share.

The newest spawning pair as of tonight is my Ruby Red dragonets. They are new to this and apparently not very good at it since I don't think their coupling produced any fertilized eggs. I didn't take any serious time to do any nice editing on the videos so I apologize for a crappy video clip.
Anyways for several days now he's been trying to get her attention and she just ignores him. Today before lights out I noticed she was a little swollen and actually following him around a lot. About one minute before the moonlights kicked off he started getting frisky and they began their dance but didn't get very far with it. I went and found a small light and put it on the tank to see what they were up too and we're still trying. They coupled a few times but not enough to fertilize the eggs I don't think. In the end he kept trying to entice her but she was done. He badgered her so much that in the end she started swatting at him and bit him a few times. Then he left her alone. I looked for eggs but couldn't find any. I'm assuming they look like my mandarin goby eggs but maybe way smaller?
Anyways here is the video link.

Another pair spawning in the tank is my green mandarin dragonets.
I had a separate thread for them but figured I'd just move it over to here.
Currently I have only one pair of spawning mandarins. I lost several of my pairs to an Ich outbreak and once to starvation when I was doing large doses of vodka. I believe the vodka dosing killed off a lot of their food source but that's just a theory since they were healthy for a very long time until I upped the vodka dosage and they were the only fish affected at the time. That was a major bummer and sad to see.
Here is a video of one of my first pairs spawning.

When these guys were spawning I was able to collect eggs . They even hatched the next day but I have not gotten any farther than this stage with it.

Here is my current pair spawning. However I have not collected any of their eggs.

I'll do more updates later with what else is going on in the tank :)

No I bought female first and introduced male a few weeks later.
Im not very good at raising the larva for any of the pairs of fish I have except the clowns but one day maybe.

So my Picasso clowns spawn all the time. Iv raised some babies to adulthood but lately iv been in a slump from trying different methods plus I think the vodka dosing is too much bacteria on the eggs. I quit the vodka to see if it makes any difference. The eggs in the video was a small spawn but now the clutch is probably about 4x as many. They laid some eggs the other day so I'll be giving it another shot soon.

Yay,
Had a successful ruby spawn tonight. I have no copepod larva to feed them so sadly nothing will happen with these eggs but I'm going to start tracking down some food for the next batch.

So the strand is actually a string of eggs. Pretty neat.

(Ignore the bubble algae it's currently my major nemesis )

Very cool.

Thx man, Iv been nerding out infront of the tank after lights out.
Collected some ruby red eggs tonight.
I have nothing to feed them but will see if they develope/hatch.

I have also added 2 additional females to the tank so that my male quits trying so hard on the female every night.
Even when she is not carrying eggs he is constantly harassing her. So maybe this will help.

just curious what your using to collect the eggs, i would be worried about damaging them if it were me.
you said youve raised some spawn before with success, what special treatment did you perfom?
lastly thats alot of dragonets in one tank, curious what size?

always neat to see this stuff!

Fantastic. Hopefully you are able to start raising them. I think this would be huge. You would have tons of customers.

Would be cool to maybe sell or trade a few for corals or new fish but I'm just doing it mostly bc its fun to me. But who knows ;)

I just siphon up the eggs with a turkey baster. They are all on a strand so that's a really easy part.
I haven't raised Ruby reds past day 6. I have raised clowns is all so far.
So the Ruby reds are a trio and in my 240 display. The mandarins are in a separate tank which is a 120 tall.

Mandarins are one of the reasons I got into sw. I don't have any as it stands though because I think my other fish would murder it and/or eat it.

I want a trio in my tank. They are so cool to watch. I have a large make ruby red right now. Do you think if I bought two females they would pair up?
