Spears union ball valves????

So I got these 1.5 inch Spears single union ball valves... but they just dont work like the normal single union ball valves I am used to... when you disconnect the union, the ball valve really doesnt come apart... the flange part that usually is connected to one of union sides is actually stuck into the ball valve, and in order for it to come out, you really have to use some force, and this pretty much disassembles the ball valve.

Does anyone ever use spears single union ball valves? If so, am I missing something here?

maybe I am not explaining them right...but pretty much, the single union ball valves are useless and serve more as just a ball valve since the union is so hard to remove once you unthread the socket...it is wedged in there really hard....nobody has any experience with them?

Maybe a pic would help, I've always used the true union ball valves and never had any problems - for what that's worth. So maybe if you had a pic
