Species Identification (help)

+1

It looks like a cross between a melanistic A. ocellaris and a melanistic A. percula.

If there are any experienced locals (I'm in Chapel Hill, NC) who are willing and capable of breeding this guy(or girl), I'd love to work something out with them. It'd be interesting to find out whether or not her coloration was heritable.

Try contacting Amy ("oceanrus") on this board.

I just sent Amy a message.

Its kinda cool to get a gem like this one so randomly. It would be especially neat, if she were bred, if her offspring had similar coloration.

I have one that looks like that I think. I will post pics tonight

I got it at a lfs someone had traded it in. I thought mine had the color it has because it was old.

That one looks pretty similar to what mine looked like when I first got him/her. Being that your in Cali and I'm in nc, it seems unlikely that they came from the same source. Interesting.
