Species Question

Are Teardrop Maximas a different species from just Maximas? The reason why I ask is because they always look thinner and more elongated than a regular Maxima.
Also would you say that they are a little bit harder to keep than the average Maxima (sensitivity & initial survival rate). Thanks.

Whenever I read "maxima," I've always figured it is Tridacna maxima and that the common names vary according to the mantle pattern and coloration. Though I could be mistaken.
Any other takers...just what is a "teardrop maxima?"

Cheers,
Bob
