Does anyone else have a problem looseing the housings to replace the cartridges? I bought a unit from SC about a 18 months agao and everytime I have to replace the filters it's a wrestling match!!

This morning I actually chipped off part of one holder rib trying to loosen it. :mad2:

I can't beleive it can be this difficult. I love the unit but....this is nuts! I need help!

Thanks,

Tim

( I needed to vent!)

I am useing the wrench.... and I have added my own upgrade... a hammer with the wrench. That's how I chipped the rib. ! Still nothing!!

once you get it open, a quick shot of silicon greece on the thread will fix you up. The threads are "outside" the unit and the "o" ring. This keeps it from getting contaminated.

Good Luck

Yeah, wrist buster! I have a friend coming over later this am. We are going to try to double team it. One hold, one twist the wrench. If that doesn't work........well, frankly, I don't know what I'll do. I am afraid I will break it if I keep up yankin n tuggin!

The problem is, ( as I see it) even mounted to the wall, because of the plasic frame I can not get a good enough leverage to effectivly turn it. I would snap it right off the wall. So when I take it off the wall I need one hand to hold the unit and "two" hands to twist.

Very frustrating!

you may also try heating up. or cooling the cap. Perhaps a dip in hot/cold hater (only the end with the cap) would loose up the threads.

Phil,

I contaced SC. They are stumped too. But being SC, they said to bring it in and they will figure out the problem.

Going to try some HOT water on it to see if that will break the seal. If that does not work I am going to let it sit for a while. Look at it again later.

If need be, will make a run to SC tomorrow.

Thanks.

Tim

We are back up and running!! Hooray!

Dan & Paul @ SC were able to loosen the housing on the RO unit. They did it but not without some "gruntin n groanin"! I swear when Dan was pulling down on the wrench his feet left the ground!

Anyway, I want to thank them and also everbody for thier feedback.

That's also why I am willing to drive an hour to SC!

Tim

If SC was closer to most of us. They would have more business than they would know what to do with it and most of us would be broke! I have never seen a business do so much for their customers.
