Spiney lobster (pics)....

This is one of the creepiest looking critters I've seen in quite a while.. An LFS has him in a big tank for sale.... I'm not even sure I'd eat him, he's pretty scarey lookin'...........

He's very BIG! It's almost intimidating when he looks at you.. His eyes are actualyl rather large and on stalks....... Gives me the shivers....

I have a reef lobster and he is awsome to watch in action.

what do you guys keep in your tanks with those things. They look like it would tear up anything from fish to coral. Cool lookin tho.

I have SPS, LPS and softies and he does not bother any coarls.

The only problem I had was with my cleaner shrimp. When they molted he took advantage and had a good meal.

Besides that even my 2" yellow watchman goby is fine.

I am sure it will get big and that is when it will be brought back to the LFS.

I had a 3 inch blue spiny one when I started out. One day I might get a big one and keep it in it's own tank or toss on in a sump if I have a large enough sump.

You would be crazy to keep a spiny lobster in your tank. They are tanks that scavenge anything even remotely edible. They will eat fish, corals, anything... plus they are great at disturbing the sand and making a mess. They are best left in the wild; grilled; or steamed with butter.
