Hello All,

I Ordered a splendid leopard wrasse about a week and half ago, and it seems to only come out at night. I usual dont night feed but i have been trying to see if she will eat...(mysis shimp) and she never does. She looks really healthy though, and seem to stay on one side of the tank. Im guessing she is hunting pods with the mandarin at night. She seems to come out around 8pm-930pm while the atinics are on...then when the moonlight kicks in she digs in. moon light is off aroun midnight so I dont really know if she come out after that. It is kind of concerning to me that she only comes out at night...I have three other wrasse in the tank(yellow coris, and melanus and mystery) so maybe she is ducking them...any takers on why?

Almost definatly a time zone issue. Just keep feeding. They dont ship very well. These fish can stress pretty hard from this(shipping and change in light cycle). You will have better luck if you get them from an LFS. Would rather have them die on their dollar than yours.

The other wrasses you have mentioned can be aggressive. There might be an aggression issue. I would also try feeding reef caviar for a while.Every time I have picky eaters i start them with reef caviar til i can get them to mysis, and spectrum pellets.....

A member of our club had a leopard wrasse that would also come out opposite his light cycle. It stayed on that schedule for months. He ended up giving the wrasse to another reefer to try out. Sorry not a ton of help but I guess it could adjust to the time, but sometimes not.

I have a yellow canary and melanurus as well and they aren't all that aggressive. A mystery wrasse on the other hand they don't always play nice.

I don't have experience with the splendid, but I myself have a M meleagris and a M geoffroy with the other wrassses I listed.

I notice my potters leopard wakes much earlier in the morning before the lights come on and is foraging the rocks before the others wake up, included the meleagris (blackspotted leopard) but he ends up staying up all the way through the light cycle and goes to sleep same time as the others.

Thanks for the advice folks...do you think i should try to turn all lighten off for a day? maybe get her back on track:sad2:
