Yep, they're kinda taking over...
I would remove it.
First do it with tweezers and carefully remove everything you can see.
Normally that's the best way to do it.
Not a big deal.

tweezers rip them off. Those sponges will likely smother your polyps bud.

I do a peroxide dip after manual removal to nuke the rest, but it still tends to come back after a while...
