Sponge or no Sponge

for your sump return pumps...Who has a foam sponge on there intake side of the pumps?

Do you use it to keep the larger particles out of the pump? I know it can get kind of nasty with in a couple of days of use, so its constant cleaning job too.

I do and i clean it out every two weeks

Im guessing this traps things like pods and such though?

I don't use mine. If you don't have things you want to keep out of the display, there is not really any point in using it.
